Perdy, the Cat-a-pillar and His Friends
a children's story

Perdy, the Cat-a-pillar and His Friends is a story that introduces Perdy the main character and his friends and where they live in the woods.
Perdy is a caterpillar that spells his name Cat-a-pillar and he lives in an old hollow tree in the woods that does not have a name yet. Perdy's best friend is a firefly by the name of Flighty, who lives in an old barn. His next friend is a duck named Rachel who thinks she is a swan that lives in a nest in the bank of a pond. Another friend of Perdy's is an earthworm by the name Gunther who can live just about anywhere as long as the dirt is not too dry or too muddy. There still is one more friend of Perdy and he is a horsefly that calls himself Gus and he lives in a barn where a workhorse lives and makes himself at home in the horse's stall and the horse does not mind at all. The woods where Perdy and all his friends live is a sunny yet cool place to live there are all kinds of trees like oaks, maples, elms, dogwoods and many kinds of pine trees. There are also several ponds and streams for all to enjoy. At this time Perdy and his friends are just getting acquainted with each other.
