A short unfinished story inspired by the manga, “The Girl On The Other Side”

Climbing up the wall, the pitter patter of my feet matched the rain. My crunchy hair was soaked in blood as I ran from the men. I threw myself against the wall once I was over it to catch myself. Flashes of red and screams crawled up my head only to make me petrified.

“I saw them run that way! Over there!” One man screamed with a raspy voice.

I tore some Ivy out of the wall and slid myself down the mud path in front of me. With a tug of my hair I slid and was covered in mud. I took a small knife out of my bag and cut it from a cat claw bush next to me. I brushed myself off and then kept running. I held my straps looking for a small place to get some rest for the remainder of the night. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a small lantern and sped to it as fast as my nimble legs would go. My body shook as I ran through the tall grass.

“Help me!” I shouted at the shadow-like figure in the distance.

The figure snarled as I approached it. Clinging onto the long jacket of the stranger I shakily mumbled, “Please- hide me from them.”

The lanky man looked down and hesitated before grasping my small hand and leading me further into the forest. I clutched my eyes shut and leaned into his body to keep warm. With every step he took, I took three. My mind pondered the possibilities of who this person could be and as to why he bothered with a small town person like me? After a few minutes of walking there stood a stout house, a few candles lit on the inside. It seemed like somebody lived inside. The stranger released me and then opened the door.

“Come in.” He said, his hand motioning towards a small hallway that seemed to lead to nowhere. I hesitated walking in, but after a short breath I found my body leading me inside. There were Ivy plants growing along the sides of the walls, a skull that sat on a mantel. The man snapped his wrists and then a fire erupted inside of a tiny fireplace. Glancing around a little more I noticed a library to my left. There seemed to be a tsunami of books that armed each shelf space. I took a moment to bring myself back to reality before walking in.

“Where are you going, little one?”

When I looked back at him, I could see his features more clearly. He wore a hat that reached the top of the ceiling. Warm brown eyes and had long curls in his hair that seemed to lead all the way down to his back. He tied up his hair and then mumbled, “what?”

I was amazed at his beauty. His thin legs and perfectly sculpted torso that was aligned with art. Pictures of what seemed to be a battle went all the way up his chest.

“Oh nothing nothing..”

He shrugged before turning around and then placing himself on the counters of the kitchen. He tilted his head a little, showing his jawline perfectly with the candle light. To his right there was a platter of all kinds of fruit. The man grabbed an apple and then threw it at me. I jumped up to catch it but then fell on the wooden floor. My back ached from all kinds of scratches that ran along my spine.

“Tsk tsk tsk. Now look at what you've done.” He said as he jumped off the counter. He pulled me up off the ground and then said, “let's get you cleaned up.” He took his hand in mine and then took me to his bathroom. He took out some rags and patted my face clean of dirt.

“Would you like a change of clothes?” He asked. I simply nodded. After a short minute he came back with a baggy midnight black shirt. I grabbed it and then looked at him.

“Could I have some privacy?” I mumbled.

He shook his head, standing still in the doorway, still facing me. Gulping I turned my body around and slid my shirt off.

“Well well well.. What do we have here?” He came up from behind me and groped my chest. I blushed and looked up at him.

He chucked and mumbled, “keep going.” I looked away and then slid my pants off. He leaned down and mumbled against my neck, “that's right. You’re now my little kitty.”

I slid his shirt on, it reached just above my knees. He removed his hands from my body and then backed away into the kitchen. As his footsteps trailed away I sighed. My head spun for a moment before I leaned myself against the counters. I then took a bite of the apple, it had a nice crunch to it. Perhaps this man will be a nice man, I told myself glancing at the mirror before turning into the kitchen.

The man wore skin tight jeans and had some earrings that were in the shape of a dagger. I looked away, shaking just a little. My stomach did a whirl as I heard a plate get set down in front of me.

“It’s my specialty, sated pineapple.” He proceeded to say, “My mom's recipe.”

My stomach gurgled for a second before I grabbed a fork and began eating it. The juices of the pineapple melted in my mouth and with each bite I felt warmer and warmer.

“Thank you.” I said.

“My pleasure, kitty.” He said.

My face lit up for a second, in joy that finally I felt loved. I proceeded to finish the plate in front of me before yawning.

“tired ?”

I nodded to him and then reached for his hand. He led me to a spare bedroom just right of his own.

“Make yourself at home. I want you to feel comfortable.” I nodded and then sat on the bedside. He leaned down to my height and then said, “Could I kiss you, darling?”

I looked away and then thought, yes. He is a very nice man. I leaned into his body before he came closer, kissing me gently on my delicate lips. He gently slid his tongue in my mouth before laying me down onto the bed.
