Meet Pawgles and Sofie, two unique individuals with an unbreakable bond.

Pawgles, an Aenimon, appears to Sofie as an orange cat with big blue eyes. He is unlike any animal you have ever encountered. In fact, he is unlike anything you have ever came upon.

Being an ethereal spirit, Pawgles is completely unfazed by anything. Death, for example, is not something that bothers him. He has no reason to die, so why should it bother him? Even though he can die, he seems to have nine lives as an orange cat with big blue eyes. Once, he even died to his utter surprise, almost like the burning of a phoenix. However, he chooses to be a cat and is perfectly content with that.

Pawgles lives in the concept of abundance. Everything he needs to nourish and maintain himself is just there. His fur keeps him warm; he can chase mice and nap in the sunbeams.

Pawgles has a deep knowing, although he does not know what he knows. This does not bother him at all. He just knows.

On the other hand, there is Sofie, a human girl bothered by everything, facing challenges in her life in compelling ways. Her unusual upbringing leaves her with questions about the concept of truth, connection, love, trust, and spirituality. Essentially, she is bothered by too much, and it seems she is living nine lives in one lifetime.

Pawgles and Sofie share a bond that allows them to exchange thoughts and images, leading them to many adventures.

One quiet morning, as the sun rises, Sofie sits on her porch, feeling the sun's warmth on her face. She senses Pawgles' presence and, upon opening her eyes, sees him perched on the fence looking at her.

Without exchanging a word, they share a knowing glance, and Sofie can sense Pawgles wants to take her on an adventure. Pawgles jumps down from the fence and rubs his head against her leg.

Sofie rises to her feet, invigorated and eager to join Pawgles in a new adventure. They make their way towards the portal of the mystical realm, with Pawgles at the helm. Sofie's anticipation builds as they approach, wondering what exciting escapades await them.

They step through the portal and are transported into Enchanted Meadows, entering a magical dimension where wonder and possibility reign supreme.

Immediately, Sofie feels enveloped in a warm, shimmering light emanating from the air. The colors of the world around her become more vibrant and alive, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of flowers and the songs of birds. The grass beneath her feet is soft and lush, and the gentle leaves rustling in the breeze create a soothing melody.

As they wander through Enchanted Meadows, Sofie confides in Pawgles about a particular issue that's been weighing on her heart,

"I just can't seem to shake this feeling of anxiety," she sighs. "It's been bothering me for weeks now, and I cannot find a way to let it go."

Pawgles listens carefully, and after a moment of contemplation, he says, "Well, I think I have an idea that might help you. Have you ever heard of the 'Box Method'?"

"The what method?" asks Sofie, puzzled. "The Box Method," repeats Pawgles. "It's a technique that I learned from some of my feline friends, and it's helped me in the past when I've had bothers of my own."

Sofie looks intrigued, and Pawgles continues to explain. "You imagine a box in your mind. Then, you put your bother inside the box and close the lid. And every time the bother tries to escape, you push it back in and close the lid again."

Sofie nods thoughtfully, "I think I understand. But what if it keeps trying to escape? What if I cannot keep the lid on?" Pawgles grins mischievously, "Well, that's where I come in. Whenever you need a break from pushing the bother back in the box, just call on me! I'll distract you with my antics and jokes until you're ready to tackle the bother again."

Sofie cannot help but laugh at Pawgles' proposal. "You know what, Pawgles? I think that might just work. Let's give it a try!"

Sofie and Pawgles sit on a tree branch, close their eyes, and imagine a box. Sofie places her bother inside and shuts the lid. For a moment, everything is peaceful. But then, the bother begins to rattle the box lid, trying to escape.

Sofie starts to feel anxious again, but Pawgles jumps onto her lap and purrs loudly. "Hey, Sofie, did you hear about the cat that swallowed a ball of yarn?" he quips. "She gave birth to a sweater!"

Sofie cannot help but giggle at Pawgles' silly joke. She rolls under the tree branch with happiness, her eyes sparkling with joy as she imagines a fluffy kitty giving birth to a patchwork sweater made of colorful yarn. The thought is so absurd that she cannot stop giggling. The image of a meowing bundle of fluff with little paws poking out of sleeves and a tiny tail wagging from the bottom has her gasping for breath. It is like something out of a purr-fectly crafted fairy tale.

Pawgles chuckles at her infectious laughter, delighted that his comment has brought her joy.

The two unusual friends continue their leisurely walk on a winding dirt path that snakes through the sea of daisies in the Land of Enchanted Meadows. Their mirthful giggles and chuckles have given way to a sense of serenity as they soak in the peaceful scenery.

Suddenly, Pawgles stops and scans their environment with his keen big blue eyes. Sofie becomes anxious and asks, "What's the matter?"

"We're being watched," Pawgles replies in a hushed voice.

"By whom?" Sofie questions, frantically scanning the area.

"The Pointy People," Pawgles says. "They're magical creatures with sharp, pointy heads; not always friendly."

Sofie is taken aback, but Pawgles takes a step forward, summoning his bravery.

"Greetings, Pointy People," he announces, bowing low. "We come in peace."

The Pointy People examine the duo suspiciously, but their leader approaches them.

"What brings you to our meadow?" he inquires gruffly.

"We're passing through your meadow using the Box Method to help Sofie overcome her bother," Pawgles replies.

The Pointy People leader nods in thought for a while.

"We have our own way of dealing with bother," he says, "known as the Spike Method." "Would you like to learn it?"

Pawgles and Sofie eagerly accept the offer and follow the Pointy People to a nearby cave.

The Pointy People point out how to use the Spike Method, which involves envisioning a spike in your mind and impaling your bother on it, allowing it to dissipate.

Exiting the cave, Sofie reflects on the Spike Method demonstrated by the Pointy People. She initially finds the image of impaling even an imaginary bother too violent and harsh. Still, she realizes that the Spike Method and the Box Method (which involves trapping a bother in a box and ignoring it) both involve a form of harshness. The key difference is that the Spike Method allows Sofie to confront and release her troubling thoughts and emotions, while the Box Method promotes suppression.

Sofie further contemplates the Spike Method and discovers that she can view the act of impaling her bother as symbolic rather than real. By imagining her bother as a giant, colorful soap bubble that a needle can pop, she can distance herself from the violence and recognize the technique as a helpful tool for dealing with difficult emotions and bothers.

As Sofie and Pawgles venture deeper into the Meadows, they encounter various enchanted creatures demonstrating their peaceful ways of dealing with bothers. The Bubble Blowers teach them how to blow their bothers away like bubbles. The Flame Keepers show them how to melt particularly hard bothers into candle wax and light candles with botherless flames.

After a while, they arrive at a small clearing where a beautiful waterfall cascades down into a shimmering pool of water. The sound of the rushing water has a calming effect on Sofie's anxiety, and Pawgles nudges her, happy to see her enjoying the moment. It's a relief for him to see her not bothered for once.

"Look at that!" Sofie shouts, "Let's take a dip in that pool!" Though Pawgles isn't particularly fond of getting wet, he watches as Sofie wades into the crystal-clear water, letting the coolness wash over her. He notices a school of colorful fish darting around her feet.

Suddenly, Sofie feels something sharp poking her foot.

"Ouch!" she yelps, limping out of the water on one leg,

"Pawgles, something just poked me in the foot!"

"Great," Pawgles cannot help but sigh inwardly, "Never a dull moment with these bothers."

"Let me see," he says, examining her foot.

"It looks like a pointy rock. You know, Sofie, sometimes, even in the most magical places, little sharp things can hurt us."

Sofie nods, feeling slightly disappointed that even in a magical realm, things can still cause her pain.

But then Pawgles continues, "But you know what? Even with the pointy rock, we can still have a good time. Let's find a way to enjoy ourselves despite the little pains."

Sofie smiles, feeling grateful for Pawgles' positive outlook.

As they rest on the pool's bank, drying off in the sun, Pawgles points out several types of fish, and they play games of catch with smooth pebbles they find in the sand.

Sofie turns to Pawgles and says, "Thank you, Pawgles. I feel so much better now. Being in this magical realm and having you by my side makes everything much easier."

Pawgles purrs contentedly, "Anytime, Sofie. Anytime. Remember that this magic will always be there when you need it."

As the sun sets, Sofie and Pawgles decide to head back home, delighted with their adventure. They journey back into the real world, and as usual, a wise old owl in the tree shielding Sofie's bedroom window is patiently waiting for them. They tell him about their journey and the different methods they have learned to deal with Sofie's bother.

The owl says, "My dear friends, all these methods are useful but just tools. The real power lies within you. You have the strength and the wisdom to overcome any bother that comes your way."

Sofie and Pawgles look at each other, realizing the owl is right. They have relied on these magical methods to help Sofie deal with her bother, but she has the power within her all along.

Feeling empowered, Sofie tucks herself in to fall asleep. The next morning, she wakes up feeling refreshed and renewed. She greets the morning star and counts her blessings.

As she goes to school, she encounters a group of children playing in a field. Less bothered than usual, she decides to join in, and soon she is running, jumping, and playing games with the kids. Sofie feels a sense of joy and freedom she has not felt in a long time.

She realizes that sometimes the best way to deal with bother is to simply let go and enjoy the present moment.

She cannot help but feel the warm presence of Pawgles smiling at her.

"You know, Sofie," she hears Pawgles saying to her in her mind, "I think we make a pretty good team."

Sofie smiles and nods in agreement. "Yes, we do, Pawgles. Yes, we do."

What a beautiful story! You capture such childlike innocence and wisdom in this tale, and with such charm. And the image is spectacular. The story is actually begging for more little images along the way. Beautiful, beautiful work! 💙Anneliese & Pernoste
