Paper Boat and the Evening..

A Journey of Hope..

By Shailendra RathorePublished 2 years ago 3 min read

The autumn evening was drawing in, and the sun was starting to set in a blaze of fiery reds and oranges. Dillie Williams sat on the bank of the river, her hands in the water. She was moving them slowly, back and forth, as she watched the leaves fall from the trees and float away with the river flow.

The leaves were a riot of color, from the bright yellows and oranges of the maples to the deep reds and purples of the oaks. They fell in a gentle cascade, swirling and dancing in the water. Dillie watched them, mesmerized.

She felt a sense of peace and tranquility as she sat there, surrounded by the beauty of nature. The sound of the river rushing by was soothing, and the smell of the leaves was earthy and fresh. Dillie closed her eyes and took a deep breath, savouring the moment.

Dillie was only four years old, and she loved to watch the river. She imagined if the leaves could swim somehow, but she knew that they couldn't as Autumn season started. She sighed and looked up at the sky and the leaves were falling from trees.

Her father came home from work and called for her in gentle and soft voice. "Dilliiieee," he said, "I'm home. Where are you?"

Dille didn't answer, he was Surprised . She just sat there, staring at the river.

Her father came over to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "What's happened Dillie?" he asked.

Dille sighed. "I'm just thinking," she said. "I wish I could swim like the leaves."

Her father smiled. "Well, leaf can't swim likely at the moment," he said, "but you can do something else that's just as much fun."

He reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper quietly. He folded it carefully, then handed it to Dillie.

"What's this?" she asked.

"It's a paper boat," her father said with a smile. "I made it for you."

Dillie took the paper boat and looked at it in wonder. It was small and simple, but it was beautiful.

"Thank you," she said. "It's beautiful."

Her father smiled again. "You're welcome," he said. "Now, let's see if we can make it sail."

They launched the paper boat into the river, and it drifted away, carried by the flow of river. Dillie watched it go, and she felt a sense of peace. She knew that one day she will swim like the paper boat, but she could still enjoy the river at the moment. And she had her father to share it with.

They sat on the riverbank after sometime, watching the paper boat sail away. The sun had set now, and the sky was ablaze with colour. Dillie felt happy and content. She knew that she would never forget this evening.

But as she watched the paper boat drift away, she couldn't help as it get caught in some rocks and plant weeds around it.

Dillie didn't know the answer, that it could float further or not but she cares a lot. She remained surprised and still calm with holding her hands. Her father observed about her kindness and humanity. after sometime struggling with the weeds and the river rocks. What dillie sees it begin to swim again with a consistent flow. She was just happy by seeing it. and the time she spent this special evening with her father. And she knew that no matter where the paper boat ended up, because there is a new Morning after a Dawn it would always be a reminder of this happy time.
