Proo was a slick and handsome cat. He always looked like he just left the barber shop. He was known in the neighborhood for his electric green eyes and rotten black chomper. That tooth separated him from the rest and showed his tough side. Proo wasn't a bright feline but he knew how to survive. And when you're found underneath the wheel of a 94' Camry at the age of 2 months, you learn to survive quickly...

One day, Proo was frolicking through a field of daisies: "meow, meow, meow, meow, meow". He loved to sing that song as he pranced around. He was happy to be part of a family now. Proo was adopted by a man who lived in a New York City penthouse right outside the Mayor's home. Both were never happier. They were a match made in heaven. Proo was just as insecure as Mungo his new Dad.

Everyday, Proo was brought to this field and allowed to run around as he pleased. For Mungo, watching Proo frolick, prance, and sing was very enjoyable. Mungo and Proo became known throughout Manhattan as the "dynamic and duo" after a photographer took Proo's picture as he played in a lily patch. Mungo's high status as the CEO of "Proo Cat Food" increased as Proo's notoriety increased too. Life was perfect for the two and they were unstoppable. At least they thought...

Warnings were sent out today by Mayor Eseehccm to all 5 boroughs that there were 30 barn owls spotted over Central Park picking up cats, small dogs, mice, and rats. The predatory behavior of the owl wasn't uncommon but the quantity of barn owls in a group was. Barn owls are specialists when it comes to hunting animals on the ground. Moreover, their hearing is extremely good. Mayor E., as he liked to be called, warned all citizens to keep a careful eye on their small pets. He explained in a press conference that it was imperative to not make loud noises when allowing their pets outdoors.

Barn owls were known to be mostly nocturnal but not anymore as they were seen more during the day now. Climate change has really switched things up. The barn owl has become known as the hissing owl in New York City because as of lately there were several attacks on people's cats specifically in which a hiss was heard. And over the next few months, most small pet owners were familiar with this medium sized, long winged, squarish tailed barn owl. By the end of summer, anyone who took their cat outside, and some even did on leashes, were attacked by the hissing owl.

All the city knew at this point was that at least a few hundred owls migrated from the Galapagos Islands. In addition, some sort of strange mutation had taken place in which they not only became more vicious but not as nocturnal. Not to mention that these hissing owls were now traveling in packs. It must be some form of evolution. It must be survival of the fittest. The biggest problem for the Mayor though was PETA who was protecting the hissing owl. Every time he came up with a solution, PETA put a stop to it. How many more cats would be terrified, attacked, or even stolen by the hissing owl? Only time would tell.

Back home, Mungo and Proo seemed uninterrupted. Proo still frolicked on a daily basis unharmed by any barn owls and Mungo didn't seem to worried about him. It seemed quite peculiar and if you guessed that Mungo and Proo had something to do with the hissing barn owl attacks, you just may be right.

That September, on a cool and crisp morning, Mungo and Proo were arrested. Yes, even Proo was sent to an animal prison to serve a life sentence. Mungo was found guilty of training micro-chipped owls from the Galapagos Islands to attack cats. Cats were the target because Proo just couldn't bare to think that other cats might catch Mungo's attention. Proo was terribly insecure and wanted to protect his good life. Mungo could sense that and tried to make Proo more secure. The attacks on other animals were used to keep the attention off the cats.

In the end, Proo spent the rest of his days eating dry food in what became known as "cat prison". He regretted ever meeting Mungo. His blackened front chomper eventually fell out as well. He became known as the toothless wonder of New York City. He was feared by many but loved by every barn owl that he liberated with the sound of his meow. Mungo set the owls free of their control once he saw Proo was confident. But, he too spent a long time in prison for his animal crimes. To this day, Proo and Mungo say "Always be confident but never at the expense of others." "Meow meow meow meow meow."
