Origins of the Superhero Within

Descendants of the void.

By Katherine D. GrahamPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

A Superhero stumbles in humble ignorance, on semi-solid foundations of reality, seeking to discover the origins of their power. The brave soul follows the quest to access the source of power beyond anything words can express.

The hero looks into the innermost recesses of the body, mind and Universe, with the inner eye. Visible light is a miniscule part of the energy that passes through the electromagnetic spectrum. At the speed of light, the superhero recognizes more than what is transmitted unobstructed, from towers on the highest peaks or through the fibre optic cables that connect signals from below the ground and through the darkness that holds more mysteries than what is known.

The pulse of the unknown force, that has been called God, Chi, the mighty Manitou and other names, helps visualize the impossible to describe. Matter that spewed from the sun after the Big Bang, came from random attraction and repulsion of energy fluctuations, that moved within the vacuum that was not empty. In the timeless void, ephemeral contacts created elemental residues that still leave a mark in the memory, called a hysteresis, that is documented in metals.

Hysteresis has been aligned with the sacred feminine. The great mother has been honoured through time, because she is found in all creatures, male and female. The iron maiden moves through all depths of an underground river, in waves, altering frequency, amplitude, speed, phase and wavelength. Associated with the serpent and dragon, the chthonic queenshe has been villainized and defiled. Yet, she is continually revived and still lives in the oldest, reptilian brain that does not learn well from experience but repeats instinctive behaviour in a fixed way.

Perhaps this snapshot captures what is known, yet unstated of the origins of the elusive superhero within.
