One Room in New York City

I wrote this quite quickly on my phone and have spent a while editing it. I hope you like it.

(A News Report on Television: 2018)

A room that has supposedly been walled up for years has been found in the basement of a property recently bought by a young family living in New York City. As the father unbricked the wall and drilled into it, he reportedly called the police straight away as the room not only contained dusty furniture but also two skeletons. It is currently thought that one of the bodies is of an adult and the other, a toddler. It is yet unknown as to how the two died or how long they have been dead for. Though police have said that there are no signs of blunt force trauma to the skulls.

(An Extract from the Police Officer’s Report: The Next Day)

After the skeletons were found and wheeled out of the house beneath sheets, the rest of the street was taped off, not allowing cars to pass even though there were a few on-lookers on foot. We tried to shuffle them along but there was a woman who stood opposite, she was holding a piece of paper. I walked towards her asking if she was alright and she then asked me what had happened here. I then explained that we had found two bodies in the basement and almost immediately, she started off down the street. I called after her over and over, I went to get my colleague because before she ran off, she had these wide eyes as if she knew what had happened. When I came back - she had disappeared entirely. I didn’t see her after that - she must have gone down a side street but then, nobody else saw her either. I can’t understand where she went.

The police department have released a sketch of a woman they wish to speak to in connection with the two skeletons which were found on a property in New York City two days’ ago who reportedly fled the scene before questioning. She is described as being around 5 foot 6 inches tall with ringleted curly brown down to her shoulders. She is also described as having a skinny face with large brownish-green eyes and a pale complexion. According to officers, she was wearing a black skirt with a dark pink blazer and a black shirt underneath. With heavy makeup and a petite frame, officers have asked people not to approach this woman as she could be dangerous. If anyone has any information about this woman then call the number beneath the police sketch on the screen now. Please look carefully at this sketch and again, do not approach this woman.

(An Extract from the Police Officer’s Report: The Next Week)

He walked in and sat down, telling the receptionist he knew who the woman was from the sketch. He stated that the woman is his daughter and that the skeletons are of his wife and child from years’ ago. I didn’t know whether what he was saying was true, but I invited him in for an interview anyway. He explained that there were some dangerous things happening…I think I have the interview tapes in my office. Can I go and collect them?

The DNA of the skeletons found at a property in New York City have been matched. The toddler skeleton is a child of a crime-lord and his former wife. The criminal in question was in hiding until recently - one of our sources has reported that he has handed himself in for police questioning. The details of the interview are still unknown but it is rumoured that for some reason, he was hiding this wife from the world.

Criminal: Let me tell you exactly what happened here. Yes, I will admit that I have done things wrong in my life but I didn’t do this. My daughter - she’s the one you want. I know where she lives and I’ll give you the address. But I have to explain the ‘why’ - because that’s what you’re really interested in, isn't it?

My daughter was perhaps seven or eight when her baby brother was born and immediately, she was jealous. My son had a condition - I’m not saying which - but it caused my wife to spend every waking moment with him. He got the chills, he was being sick and honestly we thought we were going to lose him. As you probably know, this made my little daughter very jealous. This wasn’t normal jealousy either, this was green-eyed envy. Eventually, she tried to put her little brother outside in the garden all night. My wife was frantic. He got better but when he did - my daughter tried to drown him in the bath. We couldn’t leave him alone with her, she would hit him and slap him about. This, as you can imagine, made my wife very upset.

With some of the money I made - of course I made it in ways that are not looked on kindly by you - I bought a house in New York City. I sent my wife and my baby to live there, away from my daughter.

I can’t believe she found them…

If she did do it, it's most likely that she bricked them up in there alive. God, she hated them by the end of it.

The police have raided a property believing to the woman who fled a crime scene in New York City where two skeletons where found. Though her identity has still not been revealed, the police state they have found a diary-like confession the believe to belong to the woman in question though the woman herself is still at large. Police repeat the message they did before which is this: if you see this woman (sketch is produced on screen) you are not to approach her nor are you to attempt to disarm her if she is armed.

You are to call the police emergency department or, alternatively call the number at the bottom of your screen.

Again, do not approach her.

As you can probably see, the reopening of this case is going to be a bit difficult because there's really nobody who knows anything. I think I see a rat but hey, what are you going to do? This urban exploration today is purely about updating you on the case and having some fun in the sewers. There's a dead body down here somewhere and we're going to find it together!
