Old Farmer Joe

Did society really ever take him in consideration?

"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window."

Old farmer Joe was remembered as an inhuman and blood-curdling man who had done a dreadful thing in life. But has any human ever really taken a close look at his life? Did someone create such a rumor that people started thinking it's true?

1967 it's a standard day for dear old Joe, who gets ready to feed the pigs and water the vegetables. His wife gets ready and prepares breakfast. After he finished doing farm work for now, he washed his hands and got ready to eat. His wife made him pancakes with syrup on top. After they were done his wife did the dishes and he continued to check on the chickens and feed them. At 3 o'clock a civil service worker came to their cabin. Old Joe opened the door and asked, "Is there a reason why you're here my fellow?" The civil worker responded with, "It has seemed that rent hasn't been paid for about 6 months now, I'm afraid you have to find somewhere else now." Old Joe was flabbergasted, he was sure he paid the rent each month. They talked for some time and started to argue. Old Joe was eventually kicked out of the cabin and had to move his farm. He found a small wooden cabin which was worse than their previous one. The cabin was filled with spiderwebs and manifested by termites. They couldn't handle this condition and decided to go to court. The court lasted about 11 days, they didn't win the case and had to deal with the cabin. A week after they adjusted to the cabin, a strange man came up to their cabin. And offered them a chance to win up to 1,000,000 dollars at the casino nearby. He was hesitant, but he then considered the deal. The next day, he woke up, got dressed and drove his truck to the casino. He saw a lot of fancy cars parked near the casino. He parked his car and got ready for what's next. As soon as he entered, he was astounded. There were rich and poor people gambling everything they had; so, he came up to one of the starting games. Everyone bet 6,000 except Old Joe; he could only bet 600 due to the money paid to the court. They said the games rules were, "whoever rolls the greatest amount using 2 dice, will get the money." First was a rich woman who got a 3 and a 1, which made her knew that she wasn't going to win. They all rolled the dice, and the best score was 11. Everyone didn't notice that Old Joe didn't go yet, but then a young man stood up and firmly said, "Why are you guys celebrating, this elder hasn't gone yet." Everyone felt embarrassed but still let him roll. Everyone gazed at the dice that was rolling slowly and just made it to 6. They then checked the other dice, to their surprise, he actually rolled another 6, which meant he won. Nobody celebrated instead, they all just passed him the money and left. He saw that the young man stayed next to him and congratulated him. Then they all went to another game to try and win more money. This time he was interested in a game, which everybody has to stay at one of the player's houses and everyone has to kill each other; to win the money. So, he went up to the table and bet 60,000 dollars. Everyone agreed to go to a young girl's hotel. Everyone was excited for the prize money and of course surviving. They all arrived at 9:00 and called the girl, and the girl let them in. Then she said, "after we're done eating, I'll give each one of us materials to survive." So, they all ate and prepared for what was next. The timer started and they slashed, punched, dodged at everyone. Little did anyone know Old Joe was still in the bathroom and was one step ahead of them. He had blocked he door and opened the vent to find where the money was hidden. When they realized someone was missing, they immediately knew they were in the bathroom. Just as they got there, Old Joe managed to squeeze himself in the vents and crawled. They continued to fight each other while trying to break open the door. A person managed to open the door and locked him in; so, he could catch his breath. He saw that the vents were open which indicated that Old Joe went up the vents. So, he did the same and barely managed to squeeze in. When he got up there, another person broke the door open with a chainsaw and saw him. He then instantly climbed up the vents to avoid dying. He relaxed for some time and saw tiny bits of blood splattered across the opening of the vent. The woman then tried to climb up the vents and screamed ferociously, "I WILL KILL YOU ALL!" Another person then proceeded to slice her body in half and calmly say, it's fine I will get you later anyways." He froze in terror and continued to crawl through the vents. He eventually saw Old Joe and told him what happened. They made a deal that they would split the money when they find the room. After crawling for a bit, they reach the hallway vents and see a person staring at the vents holding a dagger. The person whispered the words, "I know you're in there!" The pair heard him and quickly went another way. They then finally found it and was ready to get down but then the other person came into the room. The person aimed a pistol at the vents but thankfully, Old Joe shot him with a pistol before he could shoot. He was still standing and prepared to shoot. The pair only had 2 more bullets and weren't sure if they should use it on him. They had no choice and shot him 2 more times in the chest. He finally fell down and the pair came down from the vents and took the money. But Old Joe felt like he would betray him, so he grabbed a pocketknife and said, "I'm so sorry but I need the money for myself..." and stabbed his partner. He felt bad and put money on his corpse. He then came home with lots of money and quietly laid on the bed. His wife gave him some tea and went to sleep with him.
