Delaware takes on an honor.
Air passed through the passageway.
“We have to say it.”
“It must be heard.”
“That’s the problem,” the journalists proclaimed.
“I know we must be able to know that the state is….”
“The greatest country is the United States. The greatest city is New York. And the greatest state is Delaware.”
The other two journalists looked around puzzled, astonished, and gratified at just hearing the words.
“Yes, but we make it official when we get the advertising boards involved and the governor.”
“That sounds great. We just have to ensure that Delaware will receive this honor.”
“It’s what we’ll do.”

The muddy, mucky sense of it had been known for centuries. Locals tied it to an ancient god who they believed restored people’s health with the cow plops. During the festival, thick patties hurled through the air and smushed into the bodies and faces of those rollicking around in the filth.
