Grey lived in a vast, ominous forest. He was a stunning beast with piercing blue eyes that appeared to look deep into your soul and a thick grey coat that shimmered in the moonlight. A true alpha he was, that just the whiff of his scent made the eyes of the other creatures in the forest roll in fear.

Alas! he was a powerful and proud wolf, yet he was also lonely. The alpha yearned for companionship, for someone to love, live and share his life with. He should have found his mate over ten years ago, but he had searched through every nook and cranny of the forest, it all ended in futility.

On a day when the clouds cried and thunder rocked the earth, Grey shifted from his human form into his wolf from and ran around to clear his head. However, the strong smell of strawberries and peonies stopped him in his tracks. Sniffing around, he tried to navigate where the smell came from when suddenly a young woman came into his line of sight. She was totally unaware of her surroundings as she picked berries and hummed to herself.

“Mate”, he said to himself as he was immediately captivated by her right away and watched her from a distance. The typical alpha male in him wanted to claim his mate right away, but his human side warned him to be careful as he could end up giving her a fright.

“Emily, where are you? Let’s go home, I’m hungry”, a tiny voice said.

Grey then suddenly noticed the small human standing by his mate’s side. They had the same pale skin and blonde hair. He immediately felt scared at the thought that his mate was already married.

“I’m coming little brother, I’m almost done. Just give me a little more time sweet cheeks,” she said while pinching the little boy on the cheeks.

The growling wolf who had been wallowing in the agony of his previous thoughts suddenly lifted his head up while his blue orbs were filled with excitement. In the days that followed, Grey carefully maintained his distance from Emily but never veering too far from her.

He observed her as she went about her usual business of gathering food and caring for the forest's creatures. He was astounded by her generosity and compassion and became aware of his growing affection for her.Grey was aware that it was against the rules to love a human, yet he was powerless over his emotions.

In the hopes that Emily would accept him for who he was, he made the decision to take a chance and disclose himself to her. Grey suddenly materialized in front of Emily one night as she was strolling through the woods while in wolf form, his piercing blue eyes riveted on her. At first, Emily was terrified, but Grey didn't hurt her. Instead, he just took a seat next to her and stared up at the stars.

He then motioned her with his head to follow him. They got to a large clearing in the forest when Emily started hearing the cracking of bones and long gone was the dark grey wolf but standing in front of her was the most beautiful man that she had ever seen.

His red rose lips, his shaggy brown hair, a face sculpted like one of the several gods that had been in her bed time stories as a child. The pretty blonde lady was beyond shocked.

“I think we need to talk”, Grey pointed to a rock as he led her there to sit and catch her breath.

Grey then explained the concept of mates to her and also the concept of wolves. He explained the position of hierarchy, stating that since he was alpha, she automatically becomes his luna once she accepts the mate bond. Emily who was stunned to speak could only widen her eyes the more Grey spoke.

“I understand that is too much to take in all at once, but let’s just take it slow and let’s start on a clean slate,” Grey assured Emily.

“My name is Grey,” he stretched forth towards her.

“I’m Emily,” she smiled as she took his hand.

For weeks, Grey and Emily would spend their days together in the forest, talking about their ideas and emotions. Emily's knowledge and gentleness astounded Grey, and Grey was mesmerized by Emily's power and grace.

They encountered numerous difficulties as their love became stronger. Grey inspired fear in the forest's other creatures, and Emily's new acquaintance aroused suspicion among the villagers nearby. Nonetheless, Grey and Emily steadfastly refused to allow anyone stand in their way of their love for one another.

The woodland was ultimately altered by Grey and Emily's love. The wild creatures around them began to take on a new meaning for the animals, and the humans started to appreciate their beauty. Though a certain darkness lurked in the shadows, it refused to rear it ugly head yet. I mean we can never be sure of what’s coming.
