Not Very Convincing
My Micro Fiction #1
Share reaches, fingers wrapping around the handle of his coffee mug, all while staring at the title of the email. URGENT – Fiscal Year Deposits Report for… The subject leaks into the unknown; it’s so long.
Everything’s urgent recently, escalating the panic and stress across his team.
“One day at a time,” he reminds them daily. The encouragement doesn’t help.
Releasing his hold on the mug, he finds the mouse beneath his desk on the mostly hidden keyboard tray and clicks to open the email. Its content mimics every other message. Demands and tight deadlines he’ll struggle to meet because his calendar is filled with online meetings to enquire about his progress on urgent items.
A long sigh escapes Shane as he once again blindly reaches for his coffee. With the mug to his lips, he tilts his head back, and a single drop of cold coffee finds its way down.
8:37 AM, Tuesday.
One day at a time.
Sigh.
One day at a time.
About the Creator
Jean-François Lamothe
I mainly write fiction in the fantasy and its neighbouring genres. I love writing stories that are not of this world. I want my writing to be an escape. I enjoy writing short stories, but also hope to write longer works in the future.
