Nightmare of a dream
Working progress

It was the beginning of fall, the year of 2069. It was an awesome day. It was pumpkin everything time of the year. I love everything pumpkin. The smell and taste of the fall just feels so good. It was time for the Apple Pumpkin festival , so it was time to hang out. The anticipated wait for the festival all year was making my friends and I go crazy. Being able to get things that you can’t normally get the rest of the year feels like you are in heaven. Sheena, Keith, Emily, and Charlene was all waiting for me at the apple dumpling stand. We have been friends for years. We are still in high school. My group of friends and I are more or less the type of people that do their own thing and not all about popularity or being jerks to people. We had been bullied all through school for being different and not your average school stereotype group. Sheen was more the country farmer, cowgirl type. Keith was the type more of a guitar playing sweetheart. Emily is more like a shy and scared girl but extremely nice. Charlene is awesome. She has your back and doesn’t put up with anyone’s bullshit. Well, as for me I’m a little like all of them. I grew up countryfied, love music, I’m shy about somethings when it comes to men, and after being beat on my entire life by my father, I’m tired of everyone’s bullshit. So our little group are oddballs and we are close friends. Meeting at the apple dumpling stand, of course we had to get an apple dumpling. Then we all headed to get our fresh squeezed lemonade and apple cider. So we begin walking around looking at the yard sales, the craft stands, and all the different goodies. There are so many things to look at. One of my favorite things to look at is the vendor that has all these dragon, fairy, wizard, and skull statues. Each one of the statues are absolutely gorgeous. Charlene spots this really cool licenses plate and you can get whatever you want put on it. This same vendor does dog tags, shirts, and basically anything they can print on. Charlene said, “Why don’t we all get a t-shirt with our pictures on it?” We all responded, “Hell yeah.” But I responded, “Only if I get to have a tie dye one.” Everyone said, “Oh yeah that would be awesome. We want tie dye too.” So we took a photo of all of us together. We all made a goofy face for the photo. The vendor said, “ Give me about an hour or two and the shirts should be ready.” We all shook our heads and said, “ No problem.” So we went and continued looking at the other vendors. There was a lady that was selling homemade Native American jewelry. The pieces were beautiful. So about thirty minutes later the sky started to grow dark. The clouds started to change form and turn to a dark purple. All of a sudden little, glowing blue pebbles started falling out of the sky. They were hitting everything and going right through everything. They were going through like meteorites but burning like acid. You know like when you pour acid on something in a chemical lab. The smoke and whatever it was poured on starts dripping the left over pieces. The pebbles were about the size of a nickel. Everyone was trying to take cover. It was hard to take cover with these pebbles going through everything. The only places that it seemed to take a while for the pebbles to go through as anything made with concrete. People that were on the grounds ran into buildings, tents, and culverts. The people that ran into tents were still getting hit with the pebbles. This continued to happen for roughly two hours but seemed like forever. Everyone finally started coming out of hiding, still being extremely cautious. Some people had major burns all over their body's because of the pebbles. The pebbles actually caused some people to die. Being hit in the head chest or near major arteries. The acidic burn took lives of people that were friends and family. By this time the weird pebbles were cooled off. So many of these pebbles fell from the sky that you could no longer see any type of grass or ground. The ground almost looked like a bed of these pebbles. My friends and I found each other. We got separated when we were trying to take cover from these things. No one was hurt too bad. One of those pebbles went right through Sheena's cowgirl hat. The way it went through almost looked like an arrow went through her hat. She did get a small burn on her head from where the pieces of her burnt hat dripped on her head. All of a sudden the ground began to rumble. These little pebbles began to make a cracking noise, like an egg cracking.
Now that these pebbles began cracking, these tiny spider beetles started running all over the ground and chasing people and animals. Thank heavens this creatures weren’t very fast. They kind of moved like the pace of a beetle. Man could these things jump though. These creatures jumped like the jumping spiders you see. Don’t get me wrong the eyes of these things were pretty cool. Eyes of a spider that sparkled like a metallic green and blue. Mind you this was just the babies. Lord knows what the parents look like. We ran and ran and ran for what seemed like a long time. These things were finally out of our sight. It’s like these creatures decided to only fall in our little town. We ran for about ten miles and were finally in the clear. We decided to find somewhere to rest for a little bit. We found this old home that looked like it had been abandoned for quite some time. We looked around the outside and finally cleaned the ivy and grass from around the front door so we could go in. We cautiously continued through the door. Once we got through the door it was completely different from the outside. It looked someone was living there but there was no electricity. We tried flipping switches and got nothing. We slowly walked through what looked like the mud room. We found a kerosene lamp and some candles and lit them so we could see. Once we were able to see where we were and walk around without running into stuff, we tried to find some food and water.
The four friends and I were running from a man that we had never seen before. This man was about six foot six, had a tattoo on his right forearm, short brown hair, a scar under his right eye, and his left cheek was missing. We had no clue where he had come from or why he was after us. We ran about a mile from town and found an old run down trailer. The trailer looked as if it had been there for years. Brier bushes and ivy had grown all over it. The trailer was so covered in moss that you could no longer tell what the original color was. My friends and I looked all around the trailer before entering. When we went around to the back side of the trailer, we seen a rundown cabin and what looked to be about the distance of a football field away. We didn’t go any where near the cabin. When we went on the back side of the trailer we notice a very large hole in the side of it. The hole could not have been there very long, due to the fact that the bushes, ivy, and moss was not growing inside. Well, we finally decided to go into the trailer. When we stepped through the hole, we were standing inside of a bedroom. There were pictures of teddy bears hanging on the walls. There was so much trash on the floor that we didn’t know where to step. As we started to move out of the bedroom we kept hearing a small girls voice saying, “Stop, don’t move, be quiet.” We all looked at each other in a, “What the Hell,” kind of way. Then, Keith popped his head in to the hallway to look to see if he seen anything. He looked to his left and seen nothing but what looked like door to another bedroom. Then, Keith looked to his right and seen nothing but a green light. Keith said very quietly, “Guys there is a green light coming from what looks like a living room.” We kept glancing at the floor trying to watch where we were stepping to get out of the bedroom and away from the whole. For some reason all the windows had black trash bags over them and the doors had dead bolts on them. The only outside light was from the whole in that bedroom and a few of the bags had tears in them. We finally got to the room with the green light and we all stood there in trash knee deep with the, “Holy Shit” look on our face. Sheena tilled her head said, “What is that? Is that what I think it is?” I answered her quietly, while the hairs on my neck stood up, “I think it is but don’t know for sure.” Emily spoken in a quivering voice, “Is that really a ghost?” Then, all of a sudden that green light transformed into a figure that we couldn’t really tell what it was. Keith said with a stern yet scared voice, “What do you want? Who are you?” The figure said in a scared voice, “Please be quiet! Don’t move anymore!” I asked the figure, “Why are you telling us to be quiet?” The figure moved towards me. Before I knew it the figure has ahold of my hand. When the figure grabbed my hand it turned into a little girl. The girl looked to be about 8 years old and had what looked to be a pink night gown with stars and moons on it, on. She waved her open hand at me in the motion to come here. So, I bent down and she said in a soft voice, “You have to be quiet or you will wake them.” Having a facial expression of confusion I asked the girl, “Who are they and why are we not allowed to wake them?” The girl moved towards a window that was next to a door and looked through the tear in the bag. She looked back at us and said, “You seen the cabin right?” We all replied at once, “Yes, why?” Taking in a deep breathe the girl looked on more time outside and then back at us. “Well, the things that took over that cabin, also took over my family’s home. This trailer is my home,” said the little girl. “Those things came in here and took my momma and papa. I hid in my closet hoping they wouldn’t find me. They covered the windows with these bags and dead bolted the doors. I was left in my home for about a week then my momma came back, but she wasn’t the same person,” quivered the girl. Emily asked, “What happened after your momma came home?” The girl moved over toward a picture that was lying next to what use to be a coffee table. She looked at the picture for a moment and said, “My momma gathered trash, old clothes, and any else she could to make a nest.” Keith took a big gulp and asked, “What do you mean a nest?” Sheena said, “Yeah what do you mean a nest?” The girl looked down and said, “You’re standing in it!” We all took a deep breath and looked down. The girl said, “My momma would throw up and these large black and blue stone looking things came out of her mouth. Once she threw them up she would bury them under all this trash. She threw up so many.” I asked her, “Do you know where the stones are and where is your momma?” “Momma walked over to the kitchen and cut her neck and fell to the ground,” replied the girl. “Where is her body,” asked Emily? The little girl said, “Her body is nothing but bones, but I buried her in the trash. About a week later, I woke up and could see myself. I hid again when I heard noise coming from the windows.” Emily asked, “ What noise did you here?” The girl said quivering, “I heard clawing and what sounded like a man calling my name.” “I don’t know who would be calling my name since those things took my papa,” stated the girl. “Then I heard my name called again except by a different voice,” stated the girl. “Mary, oh Mary, come here Mary, is what the voices kept repeating. Then, one cried out in shriek Mary, HELP ME,” said the girl. Mary said, “The voice sounded like a little kid calling for help.” Keith asked Mary, “What year was it when all this happened to you and your family?” Mary replied, “I think Mom said that it was 1956 right before she died, because it we just my dad’s birthday. This all happened the night after my dad’s party.” “Are you serious? It’s been that long,” responded Sheena? “I have been here a long time. I have seen and heard a lot of things since I became a ghost. I have been here alone and scared,” said Mary. Just then we heard a noise coming from outside. It sounded like clawing and sticks being broken. Mary said, “Go and hide, they are back and I don’t want you to be killed.” So we quickly but carefully hid behind furniture and in closets. Then, we heard what sounded like someone digging in the trash covered floor. I hid in a closest that was missing the door knob. I carefully and quietly peeked through the hole where the knob should have been. I didn’t see anything except trash being thrown across the room. Then, out of nowhere I seen this thing. I have no clue what to call it. I was about 6 foot tall but as big as a horse. I had four arms and three legs. They weren’t normal legs. Its legs looked like those of a tarantula, even with the fur like them too. The arms looked like those of an ape. Its body had almost like a hard shell of a beetle. The shell was black with red and blue markings. The markings we shaped almost like tribal symbols. The head, oh lord the head was crazy. I was part spider part human. Its head was completely like a human except when it came to the mouth, eyes, and nose part. It had the mouth, eyes, and nose like a spider. The whole thing was really weird. But how did it appear and disappear. The only thing I could think to call it was Beetle Spider. I continued to watch while it was digging in all the trash. I watched for about forty minutes as it dug to where it had big well made in the trash. For some reason it just stopped and looked around. All of a sudden it made a noise of like the sound of a deer call. It made that noise for about five minutes. Then, there was a noise outside like something was coming through the woods and it sounded really big. I couldn’t see what it was. The beetle spider waved its arms like it was telling someone or something to come to it. Just then the trailer began to shake and a big ape like arm came in through the wall. The beetle spider started putting the stone looking things that Mary described in the fur of the arm that came through the wall. It looked like the stones we just clinging to the fur. After I counted twenty stones I stopped counting. When the beetle spider stopped pulling out stones the ape arm looked like it had a bunch of giant ticks on it. The arm went back out through the wall. The hole actually looked like the one that we first came in through. The beetle spider started to make a grunting noise and then looked like it was laying egg in the well that it just pulled the stone looking things from. When each egg come out it lit up like a glow worm. After it laid a bunch of the eggs, had to be over a hundred, the beetle spider covered the well back up like it had never been touched. When it finished covering everything back up it left out the hole that was made. With the beetle spider having spider legs it actually moved like a spider, but really fast. After I seen it go out through the hole I waited a few minutes. Mary said, “You can come out, it’s gone.” Everyone started coming out of their hiding places. I asked, “Did you guys see that thing?” Everyone except Emily said, “Yes!” “Emily didn’t you see that creature,” asked Keith. “I had my eyes closed till Mary said come out. I was too scared to look,” quivered Emily. “I call it a Beetle Spider because of how it looks,” I stated. Sheena said, “We need to get out of here.” Everyone at the same time said, “Uh yeah!” So we slowly, carefully, and quietly made our way out of the trailer. Mary waved goodbye through the hole that was just made. We started making our way back around the front side of the trailer. When we made our way back to the front side of the trailer we see prints in the grass from the Beetle Spider. Instead of continuing the direction we came from in the first place we went decided to go over the small mountain that was on the opposite side of the driveway. The mountain was basically forest so we could hide if we heard something. We started making our way up the mountain before it started getting dark. We walk about two miles and then began to see some hollowed out trees laying on the ground. We decided to stay in the trees for the night so that we could be hidden. We went and cut some extra branches with a lot of leaves to cover the ends of the hollowed trees. The insides of the trees were kind of creepy but was dry and would keep us hidden. Sheena and Keith stayed in one and then Emily and I stayed in another. The trees were covered in so much moss that it blended really well with the ground. Emily was so scared I had to hold her and keep her calm. She finally fell asleep after a few hours of crying. I’m so glad it was summer because we would have frozen if it was fall or winter. We couldn’t build a fire out of fear of what might come crawling to the light. I stayed awake for as long as I could to keep to keep watch. Good thing the trees were next to each other. I think it was one tree in the beginning then broke apart out of age. We could still see each other and could signal each other if we needed too. Keith said, “I’m awake if you want to get some sleep. I woke up about five minutes ago.” I said, “Thanks I am about ready to pass out.” So I fell asleep and got some rest. It’s finally daylight. Emily woke me up and told me to be quiet. “What, why,” I asked in a whispering voice. Then, Emily pointed to a clearing in the woods that we could see. It was one of the beetle spiders. I just stood there shaking its arms in the air. Then, pounded on its chest for about 3 minutes. Once it finished pounding its chest it ran off. We looked around to make sure it was gone and then we continued to walk up the mountain. While we were walking we kept looking around to make sure we didn’t see anything. We walked about five miles and then we heard a strange noise coming from the other side of the mountain. We were about two hundred yards from the top of the mountain. We started to inch our way the rest of the way up. We kept hidden behind trees and bushes. When we finally got to the top our jaws dropped. Our eyes got so big we thought they were literally going to pop out of our heads. There was a huge crater with millions of the beetle spiders and some other kind of thing that was in the center of it all. This thing looked to be about 10 feet tall. This thing looked at a huge beetle but it changed into a tarantula. Then, it changed into an ape. Then, into a human with bright red eyes. This thing didn’t stay the same form more than five minutes. While Sheena, Emily, and I watched, Keith went to look for a place for us to hide for the night but to where we could still watch out for the beetle spiders. Keith was gone for about an hour or so and he finally came back. Keith said, “I found a spot and we won’t be seen but we can see them.” So, we followed him while staying hidden behind trees. We walked for about twenty five minutes and finally come to what looked like a cave inside a pile of rocks. “We are here and what you think guys,” asked Keith? Emily shaking in fear, “Will they be able to see us and is it safe?” I said,” Emily how would they be able to see us in under a bunch of rocks?” Keith responded, “The cave goes in pretty far and they won’t be able to see us but we can see them outside.” So, we headed into the rock cave and it looked like the rocks we perfectly stacked to make the cave. Plus, there was enough light peeking through that we could see where we were going. We went in a few feet and I noticed pictures on the wall. The pictures looked like a little kid finger painted on the walls. This really made me think about how long this rock cave was here or if it was a place little kids used as a club house. We traveled further and further into the cave. We started to see light to more we moved into the cave. We started to here what sounded like rushing water. We finally reached the blue light and it was coming from this under ground lake. It had a waterfall pouring from the ceiling of the cave. You could see that the water was crystal clear. The bottom of the lake was shimmering blue like it had gems in the lake bed. It looks as if this part of the cave had never been touched. Sheena and Keith started to walk around the left side of the lake. While the rest of us walked around the other side. Hopefully meeting each other on the other side where the waterfall is. The lake was so clear but the water coming off the waterfall was soooo foggy. Emily asked, " Why is the water on the falls T totally different from the water in the lake?" The falls water also had like purplish tint to it and the fog did as well.
