It was Halloween night, and Juliette was ready for Trick or Treating. This year, Mother was going to let Juliette go by herself. She was so excited to be considered one of the big kids finally. Juliette had even picked out a cool Troll costume to wear. She loved the pointed ears it came with and would probably wear them all year long.
So, Juliette headed out to get some candy. This year was good for treats because six houses had given out full-sized candy bars. One place was even handing out dollars with the candy!! Juliette was so excited about the candy haul she had acquired.
Towards the end of the evening, Juliette was coming up on one of the last houses. The house had lights on and was decorated all witchy scary, but there was a note on the candy dish. “Please help yourself to two pieces of candy, but no more. Save some for the rest of the children. Beware your greed.” Juliette noticed that her favorite candy, a chocolate truffle, was in the bowl, so she looked around, made sure no one was looking, and dumped the whole bowl into her bag. She did not notice the face watching her from the window, nor did she see it smile ever so big,
Feeling rather proud of herself, Juliette headed home. Once home, she headed straight to her room and started eating all her candy, especially the ones she took from the house where no one was home.
The following day, she woke up with a sticky face and a candy bar hanging out of her mouth. Her stomach ached from all the candy she had eaten the night before. Juliette got up to go to the bathroom and wash her face.
When she got to the bathroom, she looked in the mirror. She wore her costume from the night before, but now she had dozens of mushrooms growing from her body and hair. She tried to remove the mushrooms, but pulling them off hurt too bad. She succeeded in pulling one off, but blood immediately started flowing. She tried to pull her ears off, but they seemed to be a part of her head now.
The mushrooms were part of her body!! She had turned into a Mushroom Troll!
