A Thriller that Captivates us in Certain Parts

Thriller Film: Run Baby Run

Run Baby Run is a crime thriller that manages to keep the audience engaged throughout the movie, thanks to its intriguing narration technique.

The film revolves around Sathya, a bank employee who encounters a stranger girl, Tara, inside his car on his way home from work. He agrees to let her stay in his apartment for a few hours, but things take a dark turn when he finds Tara dead the next morning. Sathya then sets out to uncover the truth behind her murder and ends up discovering several dark secrets.

The film's first half is filled with unexpected events and emotional moments, making it interesting to watch. However, the second half, which turns into an investigative thriller, is slightly disappointing, with a few twists that aren't impactful enough. The final reveal of the killer also falls flat, failing to elicit any strong reactions from the audience.

RJ Balaji and Aishwarya Rajesh deliver decent performances, with the latter's expressive eyes drawing empathy from the viewers. The supporting cast, including Hareesh Peradi, Bhagavathi Perumal, Isha Talwar, and Vivek Prasanna, are underutilized.

The film's technical aspects, including cinematography and music, are commendable and help to connect the audience with the characters and their conflicts. While Run Baby Run has all the ingredients of a crime thriller, it ultimately falls short in leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

The second half of the movie, which turns into an investigative thriller, is slightly disappointing. While a few twists work well, they are not impactful enough. The success of Run Baby Run lies not in the story itself, but in the intriguing narration technique that is incorporated throughout. Though the writing loses steam near the end, certain unexpected events in the first half keep us interested.

Emotions in suspense thrillers always work, and in fact, they're the only thing that takes the story forward. However, there is a feeling that the final reveal could have been staged better. When the writer tells us who the killer is, our reactions are just blank. We are neither shocked nor surprised. If the writer had made us travel with the killer from the beginning, it would have been much more effective.

RJ Balaji's character looks confused in most parts, given the fact that the character is dealing with a lot of complexities and questions. However, after a certain point, it gets monotonous. His performance isn't spectacular, but it's good enough to keep the audience entertained. Aishwarya Rajesh's screen presence and expressive eyes force the viewers to empathise with her plight. Rethika Srinivasan, who comes only for a brief period of time, has also delivered a good performance.

There are many good artists in the film, including Hareesh Peradi, Bhagavathi Perumal, Isha Talwar and Vivek Prasanna, but none of them are utilized to the fullest. The technical aspects of the film have nothing to complain about. Both cinematography and music help us to connect with the central characters and their conflicts.

Overall, Run Baby Run has all the ingredients that a crime thriller requires but is not powerful enough to linger in our minds. Despite its flaws, the film is a decent watch for those who love suspense thrillers. The film manages to keep the viewers hooked throughout, and the intriguing narration technique is a major plus. However, the lackluster second half and the under utilization of some talented actors prevent it from being a great film.

However, the writing loses its momentum in the second half when the film turns into an investigative thriller. The twists in this section work well but are not impactful enough to leave a lasting impression on the viewer. Additionally, the final reveal of the killer's identity falls short in terms of creating a shock factor or surprise element. It could have been staged better to have a greater impact on the audience.
