Mommy, Daddy, Maddy & Me

Maddy noun Mad-Dee A Gender neutral term for a parental figure that assumes the role of a mother, father or both

By Andrea CummingsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I have the greatest mom that does things that a Daddy would also do-

My Maddy teaches me how to cook and bake, and takes me fishing too.

My best friend Marissa has two moms,

And two loving men are the parents of my neighbor Don.

No matter what their specific roles, they are parents that love their kids.

One goes by the name of Maddy- no matter what their gender is.

So what exactly is a Maddy? Some people scratch their head and ask.

It's a neutral parent title of either a mom or dad.

But one also can be like my mom, who wears the hat of both-

So yes she is my Maddy, and that is my final vote.

My Maddy always tells me that I can be anything-

So it stands to reason that a parent's title should not be limiting.

Who says it has to be two dads, when one may fill a traditional mommy role-

Or two mommy's have one that loves basketball, and teaches how to shoot free throws.

No matter how a parent identifies, or even the color of their flag-

At the end of the day, they cook and clean and help their kids with math.

So whether Susan, or Thomas -Tammy and Chelsea or Brock and Steve-

To me and my friends they are only Mommy, Daddy, Maddy and me.
