“You’ve got a coveted piece of candy on your chest…the combat action ribbon (CAR),” Sergeant Michael Shipp noticed.

“I was barely in the firefight. It lasted less than three minutes. We had a sniper eleven hundred yards away. Stopped the advancement,” Corporal Gordy Greenblatt acknowledged.

“You’re far too humble,” Shipp pointed out.

“I’m not making it a big deal.”

“You’re unselfish….”

“Hell, no! I’m completely self-interested. I have to look at reality. I didn’t save anyone’s life. That’s high on the list of superior award requirements. I served honorably. That’s it.”

“I can respect that. People still want that CAR.”

“Yes.”
