Unprecedented as it appeared, a black man and a black woman on the ballot for president of the United States of America didn’t really bother anyone. The two rivals joked behind the scenes.

“You know why no one is up in arms about two black candidates, right?” Norman Belton asked.

“Because one of us will be a public servant on a grand scale,” Tinishé Coatesville replied.

They laughed as though they weren’t about to enter a slugfest.

“I’ve gotta win,” Belton reminded her.

“You can’t. This nation is ready for me, not because I’m a black woman, but because I have better ideas,” Tinishé imparted.

“Do you think more collectivistic and altruistic plans will really save this country?”

“I spent six years in the US Senate implementing legislation that impacted millions.”

“Yes, you put a stranglehold on businesses big and small and allowed for no one to compete in the race to prosperity. That’s what you did.”

“I know that not all my work was recognized. I understand that. But groups and others fuel not only my belief in government but my faith in God.”

“I’ll be the first Objectivist in the White House. I don’t take that lightly. As you know, I never served in public office. I was the founder of three Internet companies and a flying car firm. I know that I’m selfish and I wear that badge with honor. That’s the only way to govern a country.”

“Okay, okay. I see where you’re going. You’re going to keep goading me to drop out of the race. It’s not happening. I know too much. I’ve seen too much. This is going to be a learning experience for you. What will take place in November will be historic of course, but it will also be mine.”

“No way.”
