Line In The Dirt
A Dangerous Line To Cross
I love my wife, but seriously.
"Every day it was something. "Honey, get the kids? Honey, stop at the store, honey, honey, honey?"
My pat answer became, sorry babe, I can't, I'm completely buried at work.
I began ignoring her calls, sending them to VM.
I was sharing a drink with my secretary when I played the message back. "Hey honey, I don't need anything. My mother is coming to stay for a while."
Thank God, I said aloud, just before the blow to my head.
She said, as she shoveled the dirt, "I know, you're buried at work!"
