Limitless

Prologue

“There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The stories of ancient pasts, illustrate how these draconic creatures used to descend from the heavens and gift our realm with shards of magic for hope and prosperity. This magic was always so rare, those who had been imbued with this light were seen as Prophets, they were hailed to the highest power of humanity. As their power grew, so did the civilizations they governed, which eventually turned into Kingdoms. We are now known as the Grand Magi Eledi, and we rule as a “Counsel of Elders”, so to say.

There are 8 Prophets that make up the Grand Magi:

Solarus, the Fira Kingdom,

Tallulah, the Hydro Kingdom,

Zryan, the Storm Kingdom,

Tevah, the Flora Kingdom,

Zephyr, the Gale Kingdom,

Demetrea, the Cryo Kingdom,

Serephae, the Celestial Kingdom,

Erebus, the Ruinous Kingdom;

It was not until the last 100 years, that the Kingdoms created the Embassy. This Embassy is a fellowship of magic users and warriors brought together by the Grand Magi, and given an affinity to their chosen magic. It is a fellowship formed under an oath, to protect their Kingdoms and lands from the realm behind the Hallowed Gate. This realm is called, The Underdark, and is known as a heinous and dreary place. It is full of beasts and creatures from every myth and legend that has been transcribed in texts and illustrations. Unfortunately, they have been seeping through the cracks that have formed in the gate, and causing havoc in the realm we call home.

The Realm of the Eledi is a remarkable place. It can be seen as anything one could imagine. Each Kingdom is located in an area of its element, this keeps magic connection at its strongest. The magic in this realm is used as pure magic; affinity to one singular element. Though this realm is beautiful- it is deceivingly so. Within its beauty, lies await the darkness in the shadows. The beasts, creatures and other monsters that linger, waiting to attack to siphon their own power- to destroy the creation of pure magic, and corrupt it with that of the devils.

With the Ancient Dragons descent, there have been many speculations within the Magi Counsel. One of which, the Valley has become a Ritual Ground for a Summoning. It is believed that a 9th Magi is being created… a force of power that no one can rival. It is believed with the Dragons arrival, will come a power none have encountered, a power omnipotent; Limitless…” As the dark Grand Magi spoke, the Embassy was silent. You could hear the wind whistling through the cracks in the broken brick cathedral.

“Sir, Erebus- if I may”, a dark-haired fellow from the middle of the auditorium spoke up, “What is it that we are to do now, if this so called, Limitless Being awakens?”

“We do not know” the tall, eerie man states, his eyes dark, filled with wonder, “we have been keeping watch on the valley in which the Great Dragons have descended, the fact still remains, our realm is in danger, and this Embassy is the only thing we have in place to keep our lands safe”.

“But how are we” the dark-haired man, stands up and gestures to the crowded room, “going to stand against the hallowed gate once the creatures break free?”

“THIS EMBASSY. WILL. BE. OUR LIBERATION” Erebus says in a deep commanding voice as his fist slams down on the alter. No one dare speak.

There is a cold silence in the room as they take in this condemning appearance. Tall, dark and handsome is an understatement. His features protrude dominance and destruction- he is the Eledi of Chaos after all. He towers at 8 feet tall, with a sharp, muscular build. His eyes are black as night and his long black hair is tied to the top of his head in a metal clamp. His jawline is precise with the perfect 5 o’clock shadow and vampire-like canines. His ensemble is dark and shadowy, with black pants and a white button up top, with the top 2 buttons never done up, and a long black cape that seems to fade away at the bottom like some shadow magic came to life.

As the silence becomes more deafening by the minute, a celestial woman with straight golden locks pinned back with a braid on either side, and a white flowing dress, steps forward to the alter beside her counterpart. She was the polar opposite and had a completely Ethereal look to her, her large almond, golden eyes bore out into the crowd as a golden shimmer surrounds her- she looked like an Elven goddess. The cathedral auditorium was in complete awe of this being.

“I am Eledi Serephae. We understand there is a lot of information to take in about who we are, how we became and why we created this Fellowship. You are our new recruits, and we understand that there may be concerns, misunderstandings, and at times, altercations. We only hope that during this transition into your Pure Affinity Magic, that you will become the force this realm needs. Your mission is to purify our lands from evil and condemnation.” Serephae explains with such grace, one could be set at ease in an instant. “We understand that their may be new magic on the horizon, but we do not know if this ritual the Ancient Dragons are performing is an evil we will have to destroy, or our salvation when the gates to the Underdark give way. You are welcome to leave if you do not wish to be bound by oath.”

Everyone seemed startled, no one moved an inch. No one took the offer to leave the Embassy. A small girl about 5 foot 3 with long, wild, red hair stands up in the very back row of the auditorium, all eyes turn and stare at this, seemingly shy yet very brave girl.

“H-h-how will w-w-we learn our Affinity, if we do not possess a right to magic?” she says in a shaky voice, almost as quiet as the breeze outside.

Serephae and Erebus look at one another and grin. Serephae looks at her with an all-knowing smile in her eye.

“You, my dear, what is your name” asks Serephae in a harmonic voice.

“A-Ade… uh… Adelaide… Adelaide Maude”, the girl stutters.

“It must be known to you all, that you have been selected for various reasons, whether you are infused with magic already, or await to learn more, there is a reason you are all here. We, as the Grand Magi Counsel, will grant you an affinity of pure magic once we see your potential and where your strength awaits” Erebus states in a domineering tone.

“Our senior Embassy leaders and warriors will be working with you all, over the course of the next month, before the Grand Magi step in and determine strength as pure power. Let’s not lose sight of the goal, yeah?” he continued.

“B-b-but what if w-w-we don’t possess strength a-a-and…” Adelaide began but stopped short, as Serephae approached her and whispered;

“An affinity is chosen by your heart, believe in yourself, believe in the magic and you, my dear, can do the infinite”
