It started out as a video game and then progressed into something larger. There was a feeling of accomplishment. his mind moved the box of matches. His arm moved and the screen responded. It was like his own. On the screen in real life, he could move the flammable material.

His skin looked like walnuts. The same color appeared in the virtual realm. His arm stretched out some more. He continued on with the rhythmic impulses of the algorithm. He studied the system and the set of rules until he imprinted them on his brain.

“I’ve got this,” he said.
