Chloe's POV

I pulled into the parking lot at the diner early on Saturday morning, as my usual per shift. I wanted to help Mae, and I felt like I was ready to quit my life again to help her find her brother. I walked into the diner and went behind the counter to put on my apron, there were already a ton of customers sitting at tables waiting to be served. I grabbed my notepad and a pen and turned toward the crowd and put on my most confident smile.

Sara came in a couple of minutes after me, she nodded toward me, and gave a soft smile as she put her apron on. "Good morning" I sang as I walked up to the counter to get drinks for the current table I was serving. "Hey, what's with the crowd?" She asked eyeing everyone. "Not sure, but I'm hoping this will become the new normal for the place, we could use more tips," I replied as I turned with the drinks making my way to the guests that ordered them.

The day kept me and my thoughts busy, that's exactly what I wanted them to do.

That evening when I got off of my shift, I pulled out my phone and br

ought up Mae's number and dialed it. it rang twice before she answered. "Hello?" She asked. "I will help." I stated before quickly hanging up and shoving my phone back in my pocket, I got into my car and turned on the radio, and drove home.

Mae's POV

I hung up the phone and went back to brushing my hair. "Who was that?" Lucas asked as he came out of the shower. "It was Chloe, she said she was going to help," I said as I tied my hair back and turned to look at him. "Do we have a plan yet, or are we just going to go in and hope everything works out?" I let my smile drop and turned away, "I was working on the plan, I don't know the layout of the building. I don't know where it's located, and I don't know how much time we have. That is why we need to start this as soon as possible, but first, we need to figure out the location and the layout." I walked out of the bathroom and made my way over to the dresser pulling out a blue long-sleeved top and dark blue jeans I got dressed then sat on the bed and waited for Lucas to come out.

Once he came out we got our shoes on and went to leave the hotel room, on our way out the door, my phone started to buzz. "Hello?" I answered. "You need to stop looking." It was my father, I didn't recognize the number. My father went into hiding not long after William went missing. "I won't stop looking for my brother," I stated then hung up on him. Shrugging the call off and we finished making our way out to the car, I drove quietly and listened as Lucas talked about how his classes were going.

We pulled in front of Chloe's apartment and waited for her to come out, we had agreed that she would pack and come with us as we will be leaving tonight. "What's the plan?" Lucas asked as he opened up a candy wrapper. "The first plan is to start from the beginning, going back to my father''s place," I said as I searched for plane tickets. Not long after Chloe came out carrying a duffel bag and got into the car. "Ready?" I asked looking at her through the rearview mirror, she nodded and turned to look out of the window.
