Life Begins Again

Chapter 1. Back in time

By Ronn Dominick YamutaPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

As the night arrived, I was facing my computer and browsing some random stuff on the internet, looking for something to entertain me.

Not really sure what else to do. My life is a total mess right now.

My name is Ryan, I'm 27 years old without a wife and still living with my parents.

Heck, I can't even afford to pay for my own meals.

Life seems so miserable...

Every now and then I would always think about what it's like to be rich, famous, or even have a girlfriend.

It would be nice if I could just do something about my life.

I'm such a loser with nothing to offer in this world...

Oh well... Enough thinking. I should get to sleep.

The night pass by, I finally fall asleep.

As I woke up I felt energetic all of a sudden.

It felt as if I was in some sort of trance.

I decided to observe my surroundings and noticed that it was both unfamiliar and nostalgic at the same time.

I was inside an empty room with only unpainted walls surrounding me.

I tried to get on my feet, and walk straight to the door near me.

I was able to easily open the door.

As I walked outside the door, I noticed my parents were sitting at the table.

I also noticed my sister Lily sitting on the other side of the table.

I got confused.

Why does my parent look younger and also my sister?

Is this some kind of dream?

"Ryan, eat your breakfast.

We're expecting you to do well on your first day in college.

Make sure not to forget to bring your stuff."

I was startled by my mother's voice.

Wait, hold up. What college?

"Mom, I'm sorry but I need to go to the bathroom."

"Hurry up! Your class starts at 9 am." My mom reminded me.

I rushed to the bathroom and went directly to look at myself in the mirror.

What's happening? I look so young.

Did I just go back in time or was everything I saw just a dream?

I really got confused but excited at the same time.

If this was indeed a dream, I would never want to wake up again.

I went out of the bathroom and saw my sister still waiting for me.

"Ryan, it's already 8:00 am. Hurry up!

We need to go to college." My sister alerted me.

"Okay, okay. I'm coming." I quickly responded.

As I rushed my preparations, I noticed the year on the calendar was 2010.

It's 12 years back in time!

No time for thinking.

I need to go!

I bid farewell to my mom and left.

As I looked around, a lot seems to have changed back to how it looked back in the past.

I saw old model cars on the road, phones are also outdated compared to the technology that I remembered.

After some time, I finally arrived at the college.

I got out of my bike and walked towards the building where my first class is supposed to be.

I found it very easy to adjust to my new environment, I guess college life isn't really a big deal compared to how I felt before.

Everything feels so fresh and new, I hope this lasts forever.

As for my class, it was more of a review than learning from scratch which is good because right now I have to pass all my subjects in order to get my degree.

After the class, unlike in the past, I made sure that I get to talk to my classmate and make some friends.

As I was walking outside the college, I noticed someone familiar.

It was her.

I remembered that face even if it has been 12 years.

I couldn't get myself to stop starring at her, freaking out on the inside.

She's here.

The one that I fell in love with within my first year in college.

However, in the past, I didn't have the courage to approach her.

I think I was so lame back then.

Now, I'm not even nervous at all.

I made a decision that this time will be different, there won't be any regrets...
