The two young males, wearing black hoodies and dark jeans, came into the mini-mart about 4:00 am. They walked around the store seeming to shop and then came to the cash register where there stood a young clerk, maybe 25 years old. He couldn’t have weighed more than 150 pounds soaking wet.

One of the would-be thiefs pulled a gun and demanded he open the cash drawer. The extremely nervous clerk opened the cash drawer to show them there was nothing in there. He had just deposited the money into the automatic time-locked safe which could not be opened without a key, which he had no access to. The thieves now seemed confused and lost, not sure what to do next. They thought they planned this out. What now?

With time running out, they ran around the store, jamming items into their pockets, things that could be sold or traded later. Cigarettes, bottles of booze and lottery tickets. They headed for the door, laughing loudly, thinking they had pulled this off rather smoothly with a toy gun for latitude.

The doors were locked and they were trapped. Sirens and bright lights broke the early morning light.

I absolutely loved the title. And so glad they got caught for their careless planning. Great read!
