Lucinda's Choice
The courier van slid to a stop on the gravel in the trailer park. The driver looked around cautiously. Evening was giving way to night as the shadows lengthened around him. There were no external lights, and few shining from the trailers around his van.

The Bucket List
She was walking down the streets of downtown Chicago as always did. After all, Marissa loved the city and encapsulating its beauty by walking everywhere she possibly could. Below the Surface
Saka sat cross-legged atop Boadicea’s scratched and dented hull, double-checking her gear. The ship rocked in the gently rolling waves, the soft splash against the hull was the only sound to be heard. Before Saka could go over her equipment a third time, a sure sign she was stalling, she sighed and suited up.

How Bitcoin Saved Christmas
This slight off-season tale goes like this: 'Twas the 10th day of Christmas, and all wasn't well in the North Pole. In the crack of dawn, the smell of fresh uprising had wafted higher than the aroma of Mrs. Claus's cookies. Santa had known this day would come, but this soon? Good thing he was prepared. He had a plan. Sure, the elves would need some convincing, but he could do that. He was Saint Nicholas, after all. With a deep breath, he fixed his hat one last time and entered his workshop.

Harbinger
A terrible shriek sliced into the silence of Nuha’s apartment like a rusted hacksaw blade into splintering hardwood. She turned sharply to find the source of the noise, as her heart almost leapt out of her chest at the sudden interruption. Standing on a metal railing just outside her window was an owl. Seeing it, Nuha breathed a sigh, and let out a quiet laugh of relief. The owl looked at her, shuffled its feet and bobbed its head once from side to side. Its white face and chest, framed by brown feathers on its back and wings, put her in mind of a monk from medieval Europe.

“Shit! Shit! Shit!” I swear under my breath as I run to catch the bus. I knew I should have checked my email last night, but no. I had to watch the latest episode of American Horror Story. Just my luck that I get an email telling me to take the lead at tomorrow’s meeting.

The Eleventh Hour
As Brently Mallard walked down the path to his home, he couldn't help but gaze at the "tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the air. In the street a peddler was crying his wares." Brently began to sing. His voice was rich and melodic, wafting through the streets. The "countless sparrows were twittering in the eaves," harmonizing with his sweet song. He had been away from home for so long, too long... and it felt strange going down the pathway home. The freedom of being away was refreshing, and the space he had gotten had been desperately needed. However, Brently did miss Mrs. Mallard, somewhat anyway. He hoped that she was in satisfactory health and that all was well. Inhaling the fresh spring air, he couldn't avoid the cloudy thought of the symbolic drought that he knew he was walking towards.

Dear Ex Best Friend
Friendship can be a beautiful thing. A best friend is someone who’s there to share the good times and support us through the bad times, but when that friendship falls apart, it can cause horrific pain. I think it’s important to know that friends can break your heart just as much, if not more so than romantic partners. I lost my best friend last year, and it was undoubtedly the most painful loss I have ever experienced. I wrote this letter to express my feelings and try to come to terms with the situation. I never sent it, but it helped me to get closure and move on, maybe writing could help you too.
