Flip Surge
The walls of the earth around her felt like they were swallowing her whole. Barely a shoulder width between her and the sides of the clay walls that seemed to stretch for miles, Mia could hardly breathe as she descended further and further into the earth as quickly as her arms and legs would allow her to. The last light of daylight was barely visable through the thick thatch covering of the safe haven. Finally after reaching the bottom of the ladder she stood in the darkening corridor, still trying to catch her breath.

Then the voice said, "look up here, for I am the tree." she looked up and gasped, "is that, oh, hey tree. I didn't know trees can talk." Tree replied "well we don't talk much for we spend our lives lonely. You know always stuck in one place. It's hard being planted in the ground." Katie said, "Mr. tree could you help me find my way home?" The tree replied "I won't be much help because I'm a tree planted in the ground. I can look this way." He turns his eyes to the left. "I can look that way." He turns his eyes to the right. But that's really all he could do. But as he looked to the right. He said, "I do see a little cottage, but it doesn't look very big." She said, "maybe someone can help me there. How can I ever repay you? Oh, thank you Mr. Tree!" So she hopped and she skipped, and she skipped and she hopped, until finally she reached the cottage. She knocked on the door and hears a voice saying, "I'm coming,I'm coming." An old lady opens the door and says "hi little girl." She goes on to say "how can I help you little girl?" Katie said, " I'm lost, I was hoping you could help me find my way back to my mom and dads." The old lady replied saying, "I don't know where your mom and dad live. But I have some candy." Katie screamed, " ooh candy!" She grabbed the candy! But just as she opened it. The piece of candy turned into a snake. Frightened and surprised she threw the snake down and took off running! She said, "Mr.Tree is that you?" as she dusted her self off. "Boy, am I glad to hear your voice," she cried! She continued, "I'm being chased by a wicked old witch and a snake." The tree replied, "I'd love to help you, little girl." Then his voice went from deep and lazy to scary as he continued "but hahaha!" The tree turned into the witch and started chasing her! Meanwhile, back at their house. Marie had gone to get Mom and Dad. She said, "help mom and dad, Katie's gone into the woods." Mom replied, "oh dear, which way did she run?" Marie said, "that way and I told her don't do it!" Meanwhile, their dad grabs a gun and her brother Brent grabs his bow and arrow and they head out in the woods. They search for an hour and a half until they hear a familiar voice crying, "mama, daddy, Marie, Brent, is anybody out there?" Brent says, "shh listen, I hear Katie! "Katie is that you?"Katie yells, "yeah, I'm scared." You could tell her voice was getting closer. So they were headed in the right direction. But wait, they could hear another unfamiliar, wicked voice. About that time, Brent spotted Katie and what appeared to be a witch riding a broom chasing her!He exclaimed, "no one messes with my Katie!" He drew his bow and shot the witch. We rush to the family but as we stepped closer to them we noticed they were covered in blood as well." patrolman 2 stops and stares "but it wasnt their blood on them ... i cant believe im saying this but...they were eating the horses." Everett and the clerk look at each other horrified by what they just heard . everett with fear in his voice looks at the patrolman and says "eating them ?!?!" patrolman 2" yes, they were eating their horses and by the time we turned to get back on ours one had sprang from their carriage and took it down with no problem so we escaped on the other one and rode until we saw your shop." Everett walks to the window and asks "where do you think they are now ?" Patrolman 2" I dont know im assuming theyre still on the road, it was a family of four well five including the one that jumped out of the carriage. everett 'well first things first none of you got injured on the way here right?" Patrolman 1 replies " no none of us got touched by them, but we left our items on the other horse." as the patrolman was talking loud noises are heard on the roof and the back of the shop. patrolman 2 "Is there anybody else here with you ?" Everett turns around and sees this humanoid creature running after them. Everett points the gun at the creature behind them as he stares at it making sure to make this shot a good one. he lines his sights up and pulls the trigger BOOM , he hits the creature in the shoulder and it goes down, but everett doesnt take his eyes off the creature in disbelief of what he just saw , then as he is about to turn around to focus on the road he hears a scream, not a normal scream but the scream of a huge wounded animal he turns around quickly to see the creature running at them on all fours gaining two times the speed he had before but its appearance was different this time it lost its human features it had before and it stunned everett at least long enough for the creature to take a swipe at the back of the horses hoof. patrolman 1 screams"everett, whats going on ?!?!" everett quickly pulls hisself together and points the revolver at the creature. BOOM,BOOM he lets off 2 rounds at the creature hitting it with both shots.the creature runs towards the forest and everett and the patrolmen race to catch up with the other two.

Autumn
WHOOOOSSHH! A rainbow-coloured gumboot swung into view, sending a flurry of fallen leaves flying into the air. The blustery breeze tapped her freckles gently, blowing a stray strand of hair out of place. The hard bitumen path was barely visible under hundreds of leaves, the victims of gravity, yet the still continued to drop like blazing suns raining from the sky. A pair of emerald green eyes sparkled cheekily, hidden partially behind a curtain of curly orange hair.

Freed
Another F. Foul, futile, foolish, flawed. Fail. I growl and slam the test down on the desk, kicking back in my chair and plunking my filthy shoes carelessly on top of it. Looking around at my classmates with “I passed” grins plastered all over their stupid faces, I almost feel a wave of insecurity before a sketch peeks at me from inside my untouched English book. I yank it out and admire my masterpiece, gently attacking it with a pencil and erasing any stray lines or unwanted smudges. Art, my one and only passion. Also my one and only talent, as demonstrated through my incapability of scoring above 50% in practically any other subject.
