the horrors of living alone

By Emily hillPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

I was painting suddenly i heard a loud noise *CRASH*. I ran to my living room to see what was goining on, my cats had been running around and broke my vase. “Dang i knew i should have moved that,” I sighed. I had been picking up the pieces and sliced my hand open. “ Not again, i hate doing this every time,” I explained. As i was going to the kitchen to throw the glass away and clean my hand there was a knock at the door. *knock* *knock* *knock*

My cats stood there looking at the door waiting for me to open it. I slowly went to the window and ever so slightly opened the curtain. It was a man, a man i have never seen before. I back away and turn the hallway and living room light off. I run to the kitchen and grab a knife; the man knocks again *knock* *knock* *knock*. “I know your in there, your porch light is on,” “open up Sarah,” this gravely but familiar voice says. I feel like i’ve heard this voice before i just don’t remember where. How does he know my name?!?

I ran out of the back door and went to my neighbors house. I knocked several times but no answer. I ran down the street at my phone to look at my cameras, I saw a tall man with brown hair. I had recognized him, he was from the coffee shop. This man had asked me quite weird questions. When I looked back at the cameras he was gone. I went back home to my cats and gave them food. I had comforted them and they comforted me, it had been a while since something like this happened. How did he know where I lived? Did he follow me? I locked all my doors and windows and went to sleep with my cats on the couch.

The next morning i felt something was off like something was out of place or wrong. I had realized I never saw the man leave my house, I didn’t see him down the street either. I looked at the camera footage from the night before right before I saw he was gone and he didn’t leave… He was still there IN MY HOME. I ran outside with my cats and called the police, I looked up and saw a figure standing in my window up stairs. He had been waiting for me in my room. The police came and found nothing. They left and I went to a friends house to stay at i never wanted to go back to that house.

About a month later i had been sitting at the table and my friend had told me to turn on the tv. It was the news talking about a murder. *tv audio* They had descovered a body and the husband of the victem said they had been hearing noises in their house. Somone also had been knocking on thier door in the middle of the night but then walking in circles around the house then leaving. He decribed the man as tall about 6'2 with dark black/brown hair. As his story went on he had said what went on the night before she was found.

" I had been at work and she had called telling me the guy was knocking at the door again, so I told her to ignore it and he'd just go away as usual but I was wrong. Something was off he wasn't leaving he had banged on the door and yelled my wifes name telling her to open up or he'd force the door open.... The next thing I knew, I was getting a call from the police that she was dead," the man on tv explained. I was stitting ther in horror wondering what would have happened to me if I stayed at the house, if I didn't run, or call the cops. Would I have been his first victem.

About a week later I was watching tv and I noticed the man that was at my house was on tv, he had been caught. His name was Adam and he had killed two more people and confessed to killing the first, as well as stalking me. He went to prison for first degree murder and man slughter. The cops went to check out my house and said they found a spot in my attic where he had been hiding. I left and moved in with my friend i had been staing with. My cats and I are now living in a safe and happy place.

This story is NOT real I wrote this off the top of my head.
