King Kuan's Galactic Odyssey
Lost in Time, Trapped by Fate
Captain King Kuan adjusted the controls of the starship Endeavor as it glided through the vast, uncharted region of the Andromeda Expanse. The mission was simple: explore the newly discovered anomaly near the black hole designated XG-57 and determine if it posed a threat to interstellar travel. But simple missions rarely stayed that way.
"Commander Rayne, what's our status?" King Kuan asked, his eyes scanning the holographic navigation display.
Commander Lyra Rayne, his second-in-command, tapped a few buttons on her console. "We've entered the anomaly's outer perimeter. Gravitational readings are fluctuating, but within tolerable limits. However... there's something odd about the energy signature."
Before King Kuan could respond, the ship lurched violently. Warning sirens blared. "We're caught in a gravitational eddy!" the helmsman, Ensign Kato, shouted. "Trying to compensate!"
The Endeavor trembled as King Kuan gripped his seat. "Divert power to stabilizers!" he ordered.
As the ship steadied, Lyra's console flashed red. "Captain, we're picking up an unidentified signal coming from within the anomaly. It’s... repeating. Almost like a distress beacon."
King Kuan exchanged a glance with Lyra. "A distress signal? In the middle of a gravitational anomaly?" He rubbed his chin. "Put it on speakers."
A garbled transmission filled the bridge, fragmented but unmistakably humanoid. "--Help... trapped... anomaly... centuries--"
The crew exchanged uneasy looks.
Kato spoke up. "Captain, if someone’s really been in there for centuries, how have they survived?"
"That's what we need to find out," King Kuan said, determination in his voice. "Set course toward the signal source. Let’s see who—or what—is calling for help."
The Endeavor pushed forward, engines burning bright against the darkness. As they neared the heart of the anomaly, space itself seemed to warp around them, twisting and stretching impossibly. Then, in the center of the storm, they saw it—a massive, ancient vessel, half-consumed by swirling cosmic energies.
King Kuan narrowed his eyes. "Prepare a boarding team. We’re going in."
Little did they know, what awaited them inside was beyond anything they could have imagined...
The boarding party, consisting of King Kuan, Commander Rayne, Kato, and two security officers, donned their advanced exo-suits and took the shuttle toward the derelict vessel. As they docked, eerie silence filled the airwaves.
"Life signs?" King Kuan asked.
Rayne checked her scanner. "Faint. But they're there. Someone—or something—is alive in there."
The ship's airlock groaned as they forced it open. Inside, the corridors were dimly lit, the walls covered in strange, pulsating vines that seemed to move as if alive. A thick, unnatural fog hovered in the passageways.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Kato muttered.
As they pressed forward, a flickering light caught their attention. A holographic log activated, showing the face of an old, weary scientist.
"To whoever finds this... we were explorers, caught in the anomaly. Our ship has been trapped in a time dilation field for over a thousand years. We are neither dead nor alive. The anomaly feeds on us, draining our life force. If you are here... leave while you can!"
Suddenly, a guttural whisper echoed through the corridors. The walls themselves seemed to pulse faster. Something was waking up.
"Captain, we need to move!" Rayne urged.
King Kuan gritted his teeth. "Not without survivors. We split up—Kato, Rayne, find the crew. Security, stay on guard. Let’s get out of here before this ship decides we belong to it too."
As the team delved deeper, shadows twisted unnaturally around them. The whispers grew into an unbearable wail. Time itself seemed to slow. And then, they saw them—figures frozen in time, their eyes pleading for release. The anomaly was alive. And it was watching them.
To be continued...
