She folded the napkin, discreetly concealing the number she had scrawled, marking the guilty like a scarlet letter.

Before she could deliver judgement, her phone rang.

The call was from an unknown number. She answered whispering, “Hello?”

She recognized the voice immediately. Her face softened, and tears filled her eyes.

She collected herself and cleaned her throat, “How did you get this number,” she demanded.

“I know what you’re doing love, please, don’t. I am the one you want to punish,” he begged.

She slid the napkin across the bar and said, smiling, “oh, your turn is coming.”
