"Just happened to" find it.

By Timothy E JonesPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The snowstorm was over, and the two people who just "happened to find" sanctuary in the tiny log cabin finally settled down. They managed to kill a few rabbits who wandered in, so had food for the night, and an endless supply of snow that could be melted and drank. Since they were miles away from any city life, the water would be as pure as drinking spring water.

The full moon had broken through the clouds with an almost powerful light that illuminated the hillside cabin as well as the valley below like it were day.

Mary looked out the small window at the town in valley below, that she only now took notice of and then looked at her companion, another woman. "Will you take a look at this?"

Cindy moved in close to Mary, as she too took in the view. "The cabin may have to go; it's falling apart around us."

"True," Mary said, "but we can always put up something in its place."

"We..." Cindy began to smile, "...have been looking for a place to call our own."

"Yes, why not make this place it. I don't think we "just happened" to find this place, you know?"

"I have the same feeling, there's bound to be an office in that little town below where they can help us."

"Then it's settled," Mary wrapped her arm around her wife, as they watched out the broken window for a bit, then moved back towards the warm fireplace.
