Dear Journal,
Here I am an 80-year-old man sitting in my favorite chair with my robotic dog, Miss Pokey. I got her after my real Miss Pokey decided it was time to go if you know what I mean. Now when I am waiting for the automatic food dispenser to cook dinner, and the television turns on right in time for my favorite show I sit and remember when I did these things myself. I tried to do these menial tasks, but the alarm in this Smart house keep going off when I try. Oh, for olden times.

This man sounds as though he lives with the Jetsons! Ha!
Well-wrought! The house is smart, and it is pleasant enough, but is it civil?
Fab read thank you for this
I like the humor, and the moral of the story as well. There is intrinsic value, maybe even healing, in doing for ourselves.
Nice job!!😊💕💗
Sometimes robots are just too smart
This is so good!
Mark, reminds me of the Jetsons. While as a kid, I dreamed of things that would "do things for me", it's also a scary thought that we would no longer be able or required to do them ourselves. However, I really do wish I had someone to take my clean dishes out of the dishwasher and put them away. GREAT WRITING
Great work, Mark. Nailed it.
A sad preview of what may yet come to pass...sigh well done Mark
