Jai Bhim is a 2021 Indian Tamil-language legal drama film directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya under 2D Entertainment. The film deals with the subject of police bias and state violence against a marginalized community and revolves around the lives of Sengeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe. The film is based on a true incident in 1993 and is about Sengeni's fight for justice for her husband with the help of an advocate named Chandru. The film received an overwhelming response from members across the film fraternity.

The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, 2021, and received positive reviews from critics for its portrayal of police bias and state violence against marginalized communities. The performances of the lead actors and the technical aspects of the film, including cinematography and music, were also praised.

The film depicts the struggles faced by Rajakannu and his wife Sengeni, who are members of the marginalized and oppressed Irular community living in a hill village in Villupuram district. The couple makes a living by catching rats, snakes, and treating poisons. However, Rajakannu has to leave his family and work in a brick kiln across the district. When a snake enters their house and jewels are stolen in the next few days, the village chief accuses Rajakannu of theft. He is then arrested and tortured by the police, who want him to confess. Sengeni seeks the help of lawyer Sanduru, who files a case in the High Court to rescue Rajakannu.

The film's central theme is the legal battle fought by lawyer Justice Chanduru in the 90s for Parvathi, a dark-caste woman living in a hill village in Villupuram district. Director T.S. Gnanavel has done an excellent job of bringing to the screen a true story that happened many years ago, without losing the film's essence.

The film features Suriya in a non-heroic role, leaving room for love scenes, fight scenes, and social justice dialogues. The film's scenes highlight the views and neglect of other communities towards the oppressed tribes, creating a deep impact on the audience.

Manikandan and Lijomoljos, who play Rajakannu and Sengeni, respectively, deliver remarkable performances, bringing the regional case to life. Prakash Raj, who plays the supporting characters, including the police inspector, gives a confident performance.

The film's cinematography, music, and visuals are other strong aspects of the movie. The film powerfully portrays the police's misuse of power and human rights violations against common people in the name of prosecution, making the voice of the voiceless people sound in our hearts. The film's thought-provoking dialogue, "Law is a powerful weapon, it matters who we use it to protect" resonates deeply with the audience. Overall, Jaybeam is an impactful film that sheds light on the oppression of marginalized communities and the importance of justice.

Overall, Jai Bhim is a thought-provoking film that sheds light on an important issue and raises awareness about the struggles faced by marginalized communities. Its powerful message and impressive execution make it a must-watch for anyone interested in social justice and human rights issues.
