If Not Humans Then What: Part 1
Wanted to save her
I was wishing, I wanted to be the one to save her. The moment I saw him, his dark hair and pale skin, a chill went through my spine when he looked at me with those piercing green eyes. He had said that I was going to help him kill someone but all I could think about is what if.
“You can’t save everyone”, my voice broke the silence as he approached me with a wicked smile “there has to be another way. What are you doing here? You should get out before she sees you!”
He stopped walking when we were face to face, looking at me intently “she won’t know where I am, you don’t need to worry”
His eyes pierced mine when he took my hand in his and held it gently. I flinched back, pulling my hand away as he smiled wider, almost childishly “you’re scared aren’t you, you’re scared because you believe I can protect you from everything. But it wouldn’t be fair for you to watch me kill someone, would it? If I have your hand, how come I get to take your body? It’s better that way”
‘You can’t save everyone. A voice inside me whispered. The fear slowly seeped into my bones as his words echoed again and again in my head.
“So let’s play a game; if you win, you get your own body but if I do, you’ll follow me everywhere”
The boy was insane, I didn’t even know why I agreed to this in the first place.
But I did “it’s just a game”
The man nodded excitedly “okay so I’m not good enough for you so you don’t deserve it, but whatever, just pretend it’s like a game!”
He grabbed my hand again and began dragging me around until he found an empty room with nothing but a bed and some boxes lying on the floor in front of it. He dragged me towards them, stopping when we reached them.
He turned to me and pointed to the bed “I want you to go over there and lie down”
I hesitated but then complied, sitting down. He sat next to me on the ground while he pulled a gun out of his bag.
“What are you doing?”
The man laughed, shaking his head “no-no, listen, we already played this game. There’s no need to repeat it. Just lay here, stay still, look pretty and try not to move at all. Okay? Do you think you can do that?”
He raised his gun and I felt the tears stinging in my eyes, why couldn’t I say no or do something instead of crying?!
I closed my eyes tightly but didn’t dare move, I knew there was no chance to run away now. His grip on my arm was firm and I knew he wasn’t going to allow me to escape so easily.
I heard him moving behind me as he set the gun down, probably to pull off his coat. After a few seconds, he stood up again, turning to me, a smirk plastered on his lips.
“Okay, it’s time to make sure you keep your promise. This time, I really will give you a body. So, stay still and don’t open your mouth. Got it?”
With that, he moved closer to me. My breath hitched when I realized what was happening and I started squirming, he must’ve seen it because he quickly got closer to me and wrapped his arms around me, forcing my face against his shoulder. His hands ran across my body and I could feel every muscle tensing under them. I tried pushing myself away again but he only tightened his hold.
He put his mouth close to my ear and started whispering words in a language I didn’t understand. The more he spoke the angrier I got, screaming louder each time.
