Thank you for inviting me to your Unofficial Vocal Challenge, RHC!

Greetings, sweet morsel.

You've never seen me before, but I know you quite well. I have been with you for 2 years, 11 months, and 28 days. You haven't bothered to notice, but our third anniversary is coming, right along with your mother's death. But I've watched you since the day you were born. Before mummy wasn't there to protect you...I was always near.

I remember hunting your great-great-great-grandmother, too. You are almost as powerful as her. Or, at least you could have been had your mother not 'protected' you from who you truly are. She taught you NOTHING. A bloodline so pure that a being like me could have been locked away, forever. But now your family is nothing. Your mother made sure the knowledge died with her.

Now she's gone, and you're vulnerable. And for 3 years now, I have been with you, every step of the way.

I ruined your relationship by scaring your boyfriend away. You never believed his story about the time he saw me. So the next time I was strong enough I made sure he saw me... and then some. His love for you was only strong enough to keep me at bay until his cowardice took in. He wasn't good enough for you anyway.

I stole your energy until you collapsed. I siphoned away your trust and money with bad luck spells and negative influences.

I have attached myself to you in so many ways now that it would take a tribe of shamans and an entire clergy to get me off of you. You are mine. Until I suck every ounce of energy and magic from your soul, and you finally give in, you're mine.

When you finally give in, you will be the masters.

And I will be promoted.

After centuries and centuries of pawing away at your ilk. I will finally be shown the respect I deserve when I drag you down, down, down. Down.

I have finally caught you. And now, as her death anniversary approaches, and your grief swells, I will have all of you.

Don't worry, little sweet gumdrop. Your physical agony will soon end. And that's when the fun really begins.

With so much love and gratitude,

The Demon Who Has Stalked Your Family

The second-person narration makes the presence feel suffocating and intimate, like the reader themselves is being haunted. It’s such an effective way to blur the line between predator and victim. Genuinely chilling

Wow. I was immersed in this letter right away and felt like it was written to me. Deliciously horrifying! Calling the recipient "morsel" and "gumdrop" were especially creepy. NIce work!

  • Thanks you for your entry, this reminds me of Jaden lol

This plot reminds me of something that Anne Rice would have come up with for her Mayfair witches. Nice and creepy. Well done, and good luck on the unofficial challenge!

I think I have one of those in my family. Spooky to think of being forever haunted.
