There were also people coming and going from the cafeteria every now and then. In fact, everyone was busy with something except for her. She didn't feel like interacting with others. Not today anyway. So, she sat alone in the library instead, reading something interesting enough to keep her distracted and to keep her mind occupied.

About 15 minutes later, someone tapped her shoulder, causing her to jump slightly in surprise. She turned her head around and saw her blonde friend, Jessica standing beside her smiling.

"Hey, Jess!" Caro greeted her brightly.

Jessica sat down next to her and looked at the book she was holding. "You're really into history aren't you? How long have you been here?" she asked curiously.

"About ten minutes, why? Do you wanna read with me?"

"Sure. What are we reading?" Jessica responded.

"Something funny by Stephen King," Caro explained, pointing at the cover of the book in her hand.

Jessica looked over her shoulder and laughed quietly. "That sounds cool!" she commented. "So, what did you bring that for?" she asked curiously.

Caro shrugged her shoulders and placed her book down on the table.

"I just got bored, that's all... but seriously, what did you bring this time?" she questioned.

Jessica smirked and pulled her backpack out of her bag, digging through its contents. She finally pulled out one of her books and handed it to Caro. "You're gonna love this," she chuckled.

"Really?" Caro exclaimed with wide eyes. "What is it?"

"A classic story about a kid whose parents killed his dog."

Cara gasped, her eyes growing wider with excitement. "Oh my god! That sounds great!" she exclaimed excitedly, picking up the book and hugging it to her chest.

Just like that, her mood instantly improved considerably; it wasn't long until she began to enjoy herself again. Within minutes the two friends were having a great time discussing the different parts of the novel, laughing and joking with each other and enjoying each other's company. As time passed on, Jessica began to notice the difference in her friend and used the opportunity to ask her "Have you been seeing Clark and Lexa? Rumour has it that they are seeing each other. I thought you and Clark were in a relationship?"

Caro froze, not expecting Jessica to ask her that question. She let out an awkward cough and slowly shook her head. "W...what gave you that idea?" she asked quietly.

"Clark's been talking about nothing but Lexa, and sometimes he even says things like: 'Lexa is the love of my life. I know nothing can replace her.' Or this one time, he said: 'Lexa saved my life.'" she chuckled lightly. "Then, yesterday he mentioned how Lexa said he looks cute and nice. Have you seen him yet?"

"Umm... no..." Caro admitted shyly.

Jessica frowned slightly. "Why not?"

Caro glanced down at the floor and shrugged her shoulders. "He seemed like he kinda wants to spend time with Lexa... He probably wants to be around her more than usual."

Jessica raised her eyebrow in confusion. "Why would he do that? Isn't he dating you?"

"No, well yes but... it isn't as simple as that," she said, shaking her head slowly. "We need to talk and sort things out. I'll appreciate it if we stopped talking about my relationship now" Caro replied.

"Fine... If that's what you want" Jessica sighed. "But just know that I'll always support you... And if you ever need help... you know you can count on me."

"Thanks, Jess..."

"Well I should be heading home, I still have school stuff to do... See ya later, sweetie!" she said, getting up from the chair and waving goodbye before walking off.
