A part of her just hoped that maybe if she pretended that everything was just fine, it wouldn't become too difficult when she had to tell her the truth eventually.

For several minutes now, her phone has been ringing nonstop, Clark has been calling her but she refused to pick up. She doesn't want to talk to him or see him right now, all she wanted to do was go home, lay on her bed and process everything. She didn't want to think, she didn't want to remember, and most importantly, she didn't want to cry anymore.

With a deep sigh, she put her phone back in her pocket and stood up from the ground. Her mum just arrived. She went to the car and got inside, closing the door behind her. She looked out of the window with empty eyes and her mum started driving home.

"What happened sweetie?" she asked after taking several turns through the streets.

"Nothing mum..."

"Did something happen between you and Clark?"

She remained silent for a while and continued looking out of the window. After a while, she decided to break the silence. "I don't know..." she answered. "I just... I just need some time alone right now."

A small smile appeared on her face as she watched her mum nod. "Ok." she nodded and slowed the car down, turning onto her street. Once they reached the house, she parked the car and turned off the engine. Caro turned to her mum and smiled.

"Thank you, mum," she said to her mum.

Caro quickly got out of the car without another word and hurriedly walked towards the front door. Just when she was about to reach the door, her mother spoke again. "Is everything alright honey?" she wondered, concerned.

"Yeah. Everything's fine," she said reassuringly.

"But you seem upset, are you sure?"

"Mum... yeah. I'm just tired. I've been sleeping so little lately and I'm kind of hungry but I'll eat later."

"Do you want me to stay with you in your room tonight? You're obviously still upset about... whatever you're upset about, so... I can give you a shoulder for those emotions" her mum offered sincerely.

"Thank you mum but I'm okay. Please go. I'll be asleep before you can wake me up."

Caro smiled reassuringly at her mum and she nodded. "Alright, love," she said. Then, after a small pause, she added. "Don't forget to drink water and rest. You can always talk to me tomorrow morning, ok? Bye baby."

"Bye-bye Mum," Caro said.

And with that, she closed the front door of the house and walked towards her bedroom while her mum drove off to work. She entered and walked over to her closet and searched for some clothes. When she had found what she needed, she headed straight to her bathroom. She took a shower and changed into clean clothes. After putting her towel away, she headed downstairs. She grabbed some dinner and walked outside, sitting down on the balcony. She sighed and ate some pasta.

While staring at the sky above her, she thought about what happened earlier today. She knew she needed to confront Clark about the message sooner or later, maybe when school resumes in some day's time. She also knew deep down that something fishy was going on with Clark and she really needed to figure it all out as soon as possible.

***

It was a new day and school has finally resumed, although not quite yet. Everyone was already talking loudly and happily about their days. Some girls talked in groups while others kept to themselves or spent time together.
