After a few minutes of sobbing and crying, Caro managed to calm herself down enough to stand up. Taking one last glance at Clark's discarded cell phone, she walked away to somewhere else. Somewhere safe.

Somewhere alone. Somewhere that she knew no one would bother her. She ended up finding a secluded area near a building and hid in the darkness of the alleyway where no one could find her. She sat down on the ground and placed her head between her legs, trying her best to calm her breathing and stop her tears from falling like the last couple of hours. But it wasn't working. No matter how she tried, she couldn't stop crying.

Her chest was hurting and every breath caused new pain in her ribs. It hurt so badly, but at the same time, it also hurt. All she wanted was to make the pain go away, but she knows that wasn't possible. So, she cried. She cried hard because she was so scared and confused. She cried because she wanted to understand why she was feeling like this and why it was affecting her so much. She cried because she didn't want anyone to see her crying like this. She cried because she didn't feel like crying, even though it made her feel pathetic. She felt horrible, but she wasn't able to let out her sorrows. Instead, her tears were pouring nonstop now.

After what felt like hours, Caro stopped crying. She wiped her tears on the sleeve of her shirt and stared blankly at the wall ahead of her, lost in her thoughts. Slowly, she pulled her knees into her chest and wrapped her arms around them, pressing her forehead on top of her arms. After some more silence, Caro's eyelids started to feel heavy and she felt exhausted. Before closing her eyes, she turned her attention over to the phone laying on the ground in front of her. She picked it up and unlocked it.

"Who am I gonna call?" she asked herself.

She scrolled through her contacts list until she reached her mum's number. With shaky fingers, she pressed the green icon next to the call button. She waited patiently, knowing very well that if she called her mother right now, she'd probably be crying once again and would most likely end up with a headache or something.

When the ringing sound filled the air, Caro held her breath nervously, waiting to hear if her mum would pick up. However, there was only the sound of static filling the silence, followed by muffled voices talking to each other. The voice of her mom and someone else who was talking too fast and too loud for her to understand what exactly they were saying.

"Mom?"

After hearing her daughter's voice, the person on the other end seemed to relax and she heard her mom speak calmly. "Yes, baby? Is something wrong?"

"Uh... co.... could you please come to pick me up at the park?" trying so hard to hold back her tears as she told her mum.

"The park? Why?" Her mum inquired.

"Because... I think I... um..."

"What's wrong sweetie?" her mum asked, clearly getting more concerned. "Are you feeling alright honey? Are you injured or...?"

"No..." Caro replied softly. "I'm fine, really... just... Can you please come to get me?"

"Okay sweetie, I'll be there as soon as I can."

"Thank you," Caro muttered quietly, placing a finger over the end call button. For some reason, she felt guilty doing this, but deep inside her heart, there was just a part of her that wanted to hide the truth from her mum.
