Standing in front of the mirror as motivational audio plays in the background, I slip into my new black slacks and white, loose-fitting blouse.

Today is the day— my interview. After days and nights of studying questions, roleplaying with friends, and building confidence, I’m ready to do this.

I grab my blazer off the hanger and put it on. I then finish it with a metal bracelet and ring. Now, my outfit is complete.

I switch gears and focus on my makeup, starting with the foundation and watching it smooth out the imperfections.

Butterflies tickle my stomach as I swipe on the eyeliner and eye shadow, but my hands remain steady.

Light pink lipstick finishes the look, and I smile. I got this.

I check the clock as I step into the living room—almost time to leave.

I will get the job.

I know it.
