The sound of a home run is distinct.
No sound like it, not even when the sound comes from the field of a little league game. A sharp noise as the ball connects, a solid clunk from the discarded bat, cheering from the stands, and the pounding of cleats hitting dirt. As the batter rounds bases the cheers get louder, the realization when the ball leaves the park.
And at Diggle’s Diamonds, a home run is always accompanied by the faint sound of shattering glass and a call of “My car!” drowned out by the young players’ fans.
