Emma obsessed over the ancient, eerie mansion.

The bones were great, and given this market, the price would be daylight robbery, assuming her plan came together.

Third time’s the charm, right?

She crawled through the empty windowpane, hidden by thickets.

The dust still covered the piano.

The axe and poison still lay where she discarded them.

The bloodstains still covered the walls.

The padlock still covered the basement door.

The moaning rattles below were still muffled.

Emma pulled the stolen holy water from her bag. Desperate times, desperate measures.

She loved the house, shame the current owners wouldn’t stay dead.
