On five big screens they saw Marie sitting with Eduardo in the restaurant. Vitaly turned to all his people in the control room: “Today is the day. You know the plan. You know your part.”

Everybody positioned themselves. Some posed as guests, some as waiters. Some went to the bathroom or outside. Everybody looked at each other. They waited, always glancing at Marie.

Then it happened: Marie sneezed and turned around to find a handkerchief in her bag. Everybody stormed toward Eduardo. They gagged him, dragged him to the bathroom, through the window outside into their getaway car, and drove away.

When Marie turned back, Eduardo was gone.

Adjusting his tie, his hair, his clothes, Vitaly walked up to Marie.

“Wow. Did he just … Run away?” he asked with a smile.

“I’m very confused, to say the least”

“Well, they do say love works in mysterious ways.”

Marie laughed.

“Can I sit down?”

Marie thought for a second.

“Sure, why not.” she finally said with a smile.

Vitaly sat down, a big smile on his face. He tapped his earpiece and said: “Guys,

Mission accomplished!”

Everybody in the control room cheered with joy.

Marie looked at him, “What mission?”

Interesting premise. I think the kidnapping could have been a tiny bit more realistic (how could she not notice a whole roomful of people moving while she sneezes?) but I really like the plot.
