Han's big allergy

Anna Beth's big prescription

By Lawrence Edward HincheePublished 4 years ago 3 min read

The times were different back then, he was an important man in his job and she was his mistress. It was the second world war and Germany was just gearing up it's big war machine. This man's wife was out of town when he recognized her getting off of the rail car for in processing. Anna Beth was unknown to his wife, but he was also a bully to his wife and now he would have his chance to rekindle with her. She was half German and Half Jew. Now she was arriving at the toughest women's POW Camp of Ravensbruck. After she showered, she was instructed to wait for the camp Commander Hans Mueller. She waited as instructed and was told she would be caring for his child while his wife ran errands, and would also, be in his bed again. If not she would be beaten and starved.

She knew personal things about this man, how he was rough with her previously when they had sex and how she would be bloodied sometimes. She was frightened and knew that his birthday was in about a month to a month and a half. She followed directions as ordered the first several days, then he ordered her held in a standing cell for two days after having sex with him. She was keeping track of the days and was planning a surprise for his birthday. It was going to be one hell of a surprise and if they found out she was the perpetrator of such an act she would certainly be executed for her treasonous act for sure.

After her two days of being in the standing cells she started formulate her plan. With her being his mistress she had certain privileges that other prisoners didn't have. She could leave whenever she wanted but she had to be careful. She still had to be back for formations and still had her other jobs to do. She had to work in the munitions factory making weapons for the German War effort. When she asked if she could go into town to get ingredients to bake him a cake for his special event, naturally he agreed. I left under escort of an armed guard and went to the market. I found all of the ingredients I would need to make him a happy man.

She knew the commandant of the camp was extremely allergic to chocolate. For his birthday, she was going to make him a white chocolate cake and no one would know the wiser. She wasn't going to give him any cards, just a gift or two, then we were going to have sex. That's the least I could do for a dying man that didn't know it. I was going to get him good and drunk, then he would have his birthday cake. He would never taste the chocolate in the cake as it had been masked to taste like vanilla and maple, when in reality it was white chocolate. She wouldn't exchange a card or anything, just a gift as she would simply slip out of his room down the back steps then to the train station.

Now getting caught meant being executed. Germany's idea of a fair trial back then was you go before the judge and hoped he was in a good mood. After the ordeal was over she didn't wait around for the death announcement because she had to leave the Ravensbruck community fast and she was able to do so through her connections from the commandants staff at the camp before they were notified of his death. She managed to to get to Switzerland, a neutral country for all combatants at that time. She stayed there until the end of the war which was four years later. They never caught up to her, but she did execute one of the nastiest commandants from World War 2 because of his evil greed.

Anna Beth lived out the remainder of her life in Switzerland because of a chocolate cake. She also, was classified as a war criminal, but the mans wife and children were better off without the monster of Ravensbruck. Anna Beth still tells this story to her grand children and great grandchildren every time she can as part of the never again campaign.
