I crashed early; way sooner than usual. I woke up at 3am with my dog looking at me cross-eyed b/c he didn't get his usual 11pm walk. I shook off the sleepiness and stepped into my flippie floppies to take him out.
I live in a city and since crime is high, I decided to get a CCW liscence years back and having been trained in the military, it was second nature to carry one.
I'm walking down Dali Blvd with my Yorkie, Moose, when I hear an argument. It soon becomes apparent it's a woman trying to get away from a man. She's screaming, "Get away from me!" over and over.
Suddenly she appears from around the corner running for her life scantily clothed being chased by a man wearing white pants, barefoot and shirtless. She ran through the intersection without even looking for traffic to a Public Safety Box (PSB) at the entry of a dormatory.
I immediatly yelled to him, "Leave her the F alone!!" Over and over but with no response. As she reached the door, she hit the button and tried to get in the dorm, but he had caught up with her and was denying her entry.
I wanted to help her more than just yelling, so I pulled my gun out and used the strobe and laser to distract him. It worked. He kept yelling back to me, "I got to school here!" to which I responded, "I don't care...LEAVE HER ALONE!"
Luckily the PSB worked and within seconds Police came out of nowhere in sneak mode and I was able to flag them down and inform them of the situation. They quickly took the perp into custody and the situation was dissolved as he kept yelling to everyone that they didn't understand.
After giving my statement to the police, I continued walking Moose. He's like an R Kelly and pees on everything, but he usually gives it a good sniffing first. I noticed him sniffing something shiny near the area I first heard the "couple" aforementioned arguing. It was a heart-shaped locket. Obviously, it had to be hers since that's where the struggle started.
So naturally, I picked it up and returned to where the police were still investigating what happened. I told them what I found and asked if I could give it to her.
Her eyes became so wide with happiness that I returned it.
A year later, half of earth's population was dead from a deadly virus tracked back to my city. It turns out the guy chasing the girl was an FBI agent trying to thwart a Russian agent's attempt to release a virus hidden in the heart-shaped locket.
Capitalism is dead, Russia and China rule the world all because I fell asleep early. No good deed...
