Give them the horns!

A taste of their own medicine!

By Jordan ZunigaPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

“This is Corporal George Wiliams of the 34th division! We’re pinned down, heavily! Unidentified alien objects are closing onto our location, and reinforcements are not far off! Does anyone read my message, over?” George yelled into the communication device. “This is General Donovan Striker of the U.C.S.C. base. We hear you and are sending immediate reinforcements to secure your position. Estimated arrival time: twenty minutes. Your orders are to hold that position until reinforcements arrive,” Donovan ordered. “Affirmative! We will hold them here for as long as we can!” George responded. “Give them a fight they’ve never seen throughout the galaxy, Corporal,” Donovan encouraged. “Yes sir!” Donovan sounded off.

Donovan lifted himself up and faced uprightly in front of his men. “The General of the nearest base has just given us orders! Men, listen up! We have reinforcements coming from a base that will be here to help us secure our position in twenty minutes. Until those reinforcements are here, our duty is to protect and secure this position at all costs!” George ordered.

A sound of engines roaring in the air crescendoed in the heavens, as the enemy ships started patrolling around their position. One of the enemy fighters opened fire against the soldiers on the ground. They fired their lasers onto the soldiers location. The soldiers ran out of the way before the blast impacted the ground, and took cover in a bunker. They regrouped in another location, as they looked up to George.

“This fight is impossible to win. We can’t beat them, not like this! Not like how we are right now! How do you expect to overcome an entire alien army you don’t know with just us as the last line of defense?” a Soldier disheartedly said. “Bro, we gotta do something! Do you know how many civilians are gonna die if we just sit here and do nothing? We gotta fight!” another Soldier hinted. “The turrets are our best hope. We have two men covering our left and right flank with each turret, while the rest try to cover for us on the ground. Deal with the ground troops. There’s no other choice,” another Soldier reinforced. George looked out at the two turrets, and nodded at the other soldiers.

“We’ve got to get back out there, and man the turrets. Men, I know we’ve struggled through a lot over the past weeks. We’ve endured many trials, and trailed through many different places after our ship crashed. But right now, we’re the only that stands before an alien army, and their ability to secure a base on our planet. Twenty minutes is all we have to go. We’ve suffered together as brothers, and it has been an honor serving with every single one of you!” George stated. George saw bulls roaming out across near the plains close by, and the Corporal smiled. “Boys, I come from Texas, born and raised. Let me tell you something: When you mess with a bull, you will eventually get the horns! Let’s give these alien bugs that same kind of greeting. Let’s show these aliens that when you mess with the bull, you gone get the horns!” George declared.

The Soldiers ran out from hiding as the Corporal ran over to the turret on the right side and started returning fire on the ships. He turned the turrets over from left to right, hitting all three ships and watching them fall to the ground, as the men started firing at the ground forces. “Yeah!” George screamed as he turned around, and human fighter planes came from behind. “The reinforcements are here! Let’s mop up the rest of them!” George shouted.
