Forever Etched in My Mind

The Ever-Present Tides

By AaradhyaPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Sophie was sitting on the deck of her family's yacht, gazing out at the vast expanse of the ocean before her. She had always loved the sea and the freedom it offered her. But there was something missing. She had been onboard for days, but not a single ship had crossed her path. It was as if she was completely alone in the world.

She sighed and picked up her book, but her mind was elsewhere. Suddenly, she heard a loud horn blast, and she looked up to see a massive cargo ship passing by. It was an incredible sight. The ship was so big, she felt dwarfed by it, and she could feel the water churning as it passed.

Sophie watched the ship go by, thinking about how it would be interesting to meet the people onboard, but she knew that she would never see them again. They were just two passing ships in the night.

Days went by, and Sophie saw more and more ships out on the ocean, but she never saw any people. It was as if the ships themselves were alive, and they were racing across the ocean, searching for something.

Sophie and her family docked at ports and marinas, but they never talked to any of the sailors or crew. They always stayed to themselves.

One day, while they were anchored off the coast of a small island, Sophie saw a small boat approaching. The boat was old and battered, but it was full of people. Sophie's curiosity got the better of her, and she watched as the boat pulled up alongside the yacht.

The people on the boat were all different ages and from different countries. Sophie overheard them speaking in many languages, and she realized that they were a group of adventurers who were exploring the world.

Sophie's heart felt light as she watched them. She wanted to be like them, to see the world and explore new places. But when the boat pulled away from the yacht and sailed into the horizon, Sophie felt a tremendous sadness wash over her. It was as if she had missed out on something wonderful that she could never have again.

Days went by, and Sophie couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness that she had felt since the boat had left. She talked to her family about it, but they didn't understand. They were happy with their life onboard the yacht, spending their days exploring new ports and beaches.

Sophie knew that she needed something more.

One afternoon, while they were anchored at an unfamiliar port, Sophie got off the yacht and walked around the town. She was amazed by the sights and sounds of the market, the people, the different foods, and the different cultures. She saw a group of people gathered around a small boat docked in the harbor. Sophie couldn't resist the urge to know what was happening, so she went up to the group to listen.

As she got closer, she noticed that the boat on the dock was the same one that had visited the yacht just weeks before. The travelers were once again exploring the world, and Sophie could see the excitement in their eyes.

Sophie couldn't believe her luck; she quickly spoke to them and was welcomed onboard. For the next six months, Sophie joined the group on their travels. She explored new lands, made new friends and even fell in love with one of the sailors whom she met while sailing across the vast ocean.

Sophie found what she was looking for, her passion and love for adventure. She realized that there were so many incredible people and things that she might miss out on if she stayed onboard her yacht, in her safe and cozy world.

Sophie also learned that the world was bigger than what she thought. She met people who spoke different languages, ate different food, and had different ways of living, but they were all united by their love for the sea and exploration.

From that moment on, Sophie knew that she was destined to explore the world, meet new people and learn new things. She would never forget the moment that she saw the passing ships, and how they had changed the course of her life.
