Chapter 1 - The "system" operation

March 15, 2005

Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, New York

-Jessicaaaa! Jessicaaa

- Parkeerr, I'm here!

Parker runs wildly towards the warehouse, hoping he won't see what he imagined, but...bad luck. Jessica was tied to a barbed wire fence and there was nothing around her to grab onto to escape.

- Jessica, thank God you're alive!

Parker burst into tears and it was among the few moments when his ferocious nature snapped. Now he couldn't help but see the only girl in whom he had placed his feelings, trust and devotion, full of blood, barely breathing.

- James, I can't anymore! I can't move my arms, James!

- Hold on, my dear! I'll get you out of here even if I have to set fire to this filthy cesspool!

James calls the rescue and in 10 minutes a crew arrives with a doctor and a paramedic who stretch Jessica and take her to the ambulance to stabilize her.

- Doctor, tell me, please, that it will be fine! Tell me it's not serious!

- Sir, fortunately, the patient only suffers minor injuries, and that's thanks to you, because you called the ambulance in time. Otherwise, the condition would have worsened, because there is a risk of losing a lot of blood, even if the wounds are superficial.

- Thank you, doctor!

"I promise things won't stay like this. Whoever did this to you will pay big and heavy. I won't have peace until I get my revenge" - James said to his girlfriend, looking at her tenderly and with tears in his eyes with a few minutes before the ambulance leaves for the hospital.

- Keep calm, it will be solved! Tonight I will sign in the council your promotion to the rank of captain for this trip and, who knows, maybe you will be lucky and remain captain for good.

The news makes Parker enormously happy, who tries hard to control himself, waiting for the moment when he will go out the door and burst with happiness. Although he was very happy, one thought crosses his mind from one end to the other: what if I never come back? What will happen to my family? If I die?

- Sir, I don't know how to thank you! What are the details of the operation?
