The hour is nigh
I’ve dreaded it
Run from it
Paced around my cell
Till my feet are worn into the sterile tiled floor
But we all must take the long walk
To a short drop
Copy and paste expressions
Shaking heads
Following me
Tormenting me
White lights blind
I undo my top button
With trembling hands
I’m rambling
They’re all laughing
As I walk to my doom
“Get the fuck over it, Phil. It’s just a conference call.”
Alas,
Let my execution be swift.

Great job congratulations
This is very powerful. I so relate to this. My years being the head of a specialty division of a large corporation made me a tough cookie to deal with. But it was also a magical time of success and creativity. I totally know that feeling of constantly walking toward my doom. Their eyes are always on you.
Oh... my days in Corporate America came rushing back with a vengeance! At one time, I roamed the country because of my job, and my form of communication with my team was through the dreaded conference call. I never loved the mute button more! Wonderfully written!
Hahaha I definitely relate 🫣🫠🤣
