Grandpa's Farm

The family farm held secrets,
no-one wanted to get out.
Grandma swept them, underneath the rug,
in the middle of the house.
Grandpa stirred around at night,
he never mentioned where he went.
His face, a ghostly white
carried an air of discontent.
When she found what he'd been hiding,
in the ducts, under the vents -
Her calm, now uninviting,
her last forgiveness, long been spent.
His eyes grew wide as saucers,
she raised that axe above his head.
He pleaded and he begged her,
"Dear, you don't want me dead."
*
She smiled,
lifted the rug,
and swept.

Shades of "X" & "Pearl". Are you sure you aren't trying to tell us something between these last two stories, Kelli? I'm detecting a bit of a theme, lol.

Get it, granny! Loved this. It had a nice eerie feel. Great job!
