Jav’iin ran through the floating city of Aeon, avoiding the battles that ran hot all around. The angels had saved them from a complete route but they were still going to get destroyed if something didn’t change. Even with their timely arrival they were still outnumbered twenty to one. Unless he could access the Godcore, something the Angels themselves couldn’t do in thousands of years they were toast. A scythe from a Cyberdark Reaper interrupted his thoughts and tried to remove his head, but he slid under it, avoiding the strike and continuing on his way. Unfortunately persistence was in their programming and the monstrosity gave chase. Jav’iin hissed. There was no time for this.

He telepathically activated his armor, and it glowed blue with the symbols of the Infinitum Empire forming floating spheres of water with each passing second. Focusing his power, Jav’iin stretched forth his hand to a newly formed blade of water. With hardly a second thought he turned around and blocked a blow that had been intended for his neck. Face to face with the beast Jav’iin smiled, despite the whirring black fangs and mad red glow in the eyes of his opponent. Once upon a time he might have feared the demon, not any longer. He spit in its face and when it staggered back he swung his sword and took off its head. The lifeless body collapsed soon after, shaking before falling still.

If he had to fight an army of Cyberdarks to reach the Godcore he would die and all would be naught. What to do, what to do. Eureka! There was a way, Jav’iin had just been too busy fighting for his life to see it. Channeling his remaining water power he made more and more droplets, letting it flow over the celestial city until there was enough to be a whole tidal wave. A new record, Javiin thought to himself, They didn’t even have time to swarm me. Time to Hang Ten.

His wave surged forward, absorbing Aeonic Angel and Cyberdark alike as it took him closer and closer to the Core. He would apologize to the Angels later, the Cyberdarks could go to Hell. Just a couple hundred more feet and he would reach the Temple and he would be scot free. Without warning Jav’iin fell flat on his face, his wave gone and the blue highlights on his suit that represented his control of water vanished. That meant he would have to go dry from here on out. Jav’iin quickly rolled over, narrowly avoiding a blast of dark energy that would have sent him to the Godcore the easy way. So that was how his wave had died.

What stood in his way was no mere drone or even a slightly higher ranked reaper. It was a Cyberdark Lord, one of the original demons made of the Black Meteor that had struck Aeon all those centuries ago. A being equal to any dragon or Phoenix or angel. Death incarnate. He was doomed. The mechanical demon smiled at him and Jav’iin broke into a full sprint.

With unnatural speed the lord struck, speeding in front of Jav’iin and swinging that double sided scythe of his. Jav’iin barely dodged it, picked up a dropped angelic weapon and swung, only for the demon to parry his blow.

“ You have spunk human,” the demons tongue lolled out its mouth, “ I will rip it out of you.”

He wished he could say something smart back but he couldn’t. Jav’iin could not compete with the superhuman abilities of a lord on his best day, much less burnt out. Shit it took all his strength just to hold him back. Using all of his strength he broke the parry and ran for it.

“ If you want to win this battle, help me fight this thing off. Please, I can't do it on my own. I'm begging you, someone, anyone.” Jav’iin cried.

At first no one answered his call and Jav’iin felt the wind of a scythe swing approaching his back. He leaned forward a little bit, messing up his balance and landing flat on his face once more. Better to be embarrassed than dead. Until he felt the scythe coming down. Jav’iin closed his eyes ready to be without a head, but a long shiiing sound ended his premature demise. He put his hand on his neck, and his head was still attached to it. Turning his head Jav’iin saw his savior.

Marduk, the most powerful of the angels, was straining, struggling to hold the scythe back.

“ Do you plan on just laying there? Stop playing! Do whatever it is you plan on doing.” He ordered.

There was far too much authority in that voice for him to refuse and Jav’iin picked himself up and ran as fast as he could.

“ After him!” The Cyberdark lord screamed.

The drones instantly stopped doing whatever they had been doing and gave chase. Praise the Godcore that the Angels were proactive. The winged warriors slayed any drone that dared to turn their back on them. However, numbers were not in their favor and a couple hundred managed to break free. The temple was a few feet ahead and tired as he was Jav’iin jumped, propelling himself through the door and landing on a cold cybernetic floor.

It took a lot for him to get up. Hours of battle, running, and using his water powers were taking their toll. A little bit longer and he would be at the center of the temple where the Godcore was located and all of these issues would disappear. The Angels could not make it do jack shit but he had to at least try. Plus giving up was not a strong suit of his. Pushing himself Jav’iin ran for it, ignoring the screams of the Cyberdarks that rushed through the entrance, corrupting the sacred building in search of him.

He had only been here once before but he thought he could figure his way out. There really was no other option. Without the Godcore the Cyberdarks would win and the world would end. He heard the mechanical crackling of the drones eating through the temple and decided to take the longest hallway. He ran like he had never run before, tired, hungry, and thirsty as he was. The halls devolved into a blur as he powered through towards salvation.

Finally something good happened. Jav’iin could hear it clear as day, clear through the demonic cracklings of the drones.

“ Closer, closer.” The divine voice chanted.

“ wE WiLl deVouR yoU”

“ WE wIll tUrn yOu inTo CodE.”

“ WE will bReAk yoU.”

Like hell you will Jav’iin thought. The walls behind him disintegrated into scrambled bits of black code that threatened to do the same should he come in contact with them.

“ Almost here, make it.”

A blue cybernetic glow emanated from the chamber ahead and Jav’iin knew in his head that was where the Godcore was located. Rushing past the entrance the Cyberdark forces stopped in their tracks, seemingly recognizing the power of the presence they were in. The virus seemed to be burned by the divine light and was reluctant to go any further. This was his chance. Jav’iin ran to the edge of the hole in the center that the deity had claimed as its own. He felt the life, and beauty, and joy that it emanated, a God that had created and saved the world many times. A God that had also let it suffer and drained the guardians of their power with his anger.Their last hope.

“ Jump.”

A word so simple yet hard. The Godcore lived in an abyss, jumping would be suicidal. The Godcore might be their last hope but Jav’iin was not willing to throw his life away.

“Are you sure about that? No other way.”

“ Jump.”

Damn, did Gods have to be so demanding. The core seemed to sense his hesitation and the blue light it produced seemed to fade and the Cyberdarks lost their fear. Once again they rushed in eager to devour and there was only one thing left in this room.

“ Damn you bitch!”

Without saying another word Jav’iin closed his eyes and jumped into the pitch dark pit.
