Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say.

But, isn't this the same as the age old question.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it.

Does it make a sound?

Well, accurately put, yes and no. Fun! Isn’t it?

If you are like me this question has a simple and complex answer. The simple answer is no and the complex answer is yes.

Are you ready to travel down a rabbit hole farther than any rabbit hole in the history of humanity?

Do you choose to take the red pill? Are you ready for the unknown to be known? To be mind…. fucked?

Then welcome! To my universal course of Existence 101. I am your Professor! Or as I like to say “Guide” to the mysteries of the universe. You can refer to me as “Teach”, Mister V like Mister T, Professor, or Lord V, as I have a very slight god complex and enjoy guiding the misguided. By the end of this course you too may have a slight god complex so please try to keep that in check, as it is quite dangerous when the consciousness is bound to a physical form.

I am not sure where you are taking this course or why you decided to take it, since it is not for the faint of heart. Nor is it for… the simply beautiful minds that are fine with just existing as they are now.

This course is for those ready for death. Those ready to become nothing, in order to become something. An individual that not only stares into the void but walks into it with unbound curiosity.

As the saying goes.

If you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

And in all that emptiness, all that nothingness, you begin to understand the abyss is you.

All that being said if you begin to feel any headaches, nausea, or lack of focus. Please feel free to pause this lesson and take a breather. Depending on your species and origin and this is with no insult to you. The complex nature of this course may disorient you at first and the Interspatial Education Module is very taxing if used for extended periods of time.

But I am extremely glad you are here! For I have searched far and wide for… not answers per se, but knowledge, I sought and still seek to comprehend the magic that is existence and all that encompasses it. And yes, I used the term magic. For what was science before the term science was coined? Plus it is fun to say I dabble in the dark arts.

So… Back to today's question. Does an object make a sound if no one is around to hear it? The correct answer is one of my most favourite things in the universe.

Yes and no. On and off? Is and isn’t? 1’s and 0’s? In or out? Left or right? Up or down? The duality of man, nay of the consciousness… and existence according to quantum physics. If you have not taken an introductory class to quantum physics. Please review the Crash Course module provided by Professor Lane.

Hm.. tangents, what a fun word. Sounds almost… Citrus flavoured, like tangerines.

So why? Why yes and why no?? This, I suppose you are wondering somewhere in that gelatinous blob we call a brain of yours.

Let's start with No since that is the easiest answer. However I am not sure how to word it so easily. Let's give it a shot.

Since the creation of language and words for communication and prior to the development of Interspatial Communication Modules, such as you are using now.. Everything is based on perception and conception. And… the conception of perception. As well as of course, the final piece of the puzzle, comprehension. For what is one without the others?

The concept of a sound, the word to describe a sound, and the perception of what a sound is. If no one can hear a sound does it exist? Then, no, because no one is around to perceive the sound it does not exist as a sound.

But... and here is the big but you have been looking for. Something still happens. And if perceived by an individual with the concept of sound and of the word sound itself, then it would be yes.

Hm, you know that is the simplest way I know how to put it. It wasn't too bad. Please take a moment to fully grasp the idea presented or to take notes. This was actually was the best way I could have explained it that I can currently conceive of.

All good? So what in the world is Existence 101? How do you have a course on something so… Simply Complex?

Well, you don't. This course was created and accepted by the University of Knowledge because it is everything and it isn't at the same time. Just like how an electron is both a particle and a wave depending on the action of observation from a being of concentrated consciousness. Like you or I.

Why have this course or even take it? Well, why do anything at all?

That is the real question isn't it? What are we doing here? Me personally? I like to think of it as a time for self reflection and to gaze upon the new fresh minds that seek the answers I once sought.

There is no life without death, no death without life.

No destruction without creation and no creation without destruction.

Nothing is something and something is nothing.

The last saying has plagued me since my years of adolescence and has somehow brought me here before you today speaking directly into your minds.

What is energy? Do you all recall the law of thermodynamics in which energy cannot be created nor destroyed? It can only change its form?

What else in human history can the statement “It has always been and always will be before and beyond the concept of time?”

The answer unequivocally in religion is the big dog of creation and existence. It is God, Allah, Jehovah, the universe, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. A being of such immense power that it has always existed even before the big bang.

There is a line I love from religious texts that states man was created in the image of god. But image in what context? Physically? Mentally? Metaphorically in regards to our capabilities?

Perhaps it is referring to our consciousness. The one thing that separates us from other living organisms. Although we are now aware that other species are capable of conscious thoughts and a perception of the universe around them. They are currently limited in their growth as a species due to a number of factors. Culture, education, comprehension of the finer details in life that we as the more conscious and perceptive of species have become.

Eventually when a species becomes capable of enhanced consciousness, such as you all here. They get to a certain point in their development, where there arises the inevitable question of..

Why do we exist?
