ESTHER

a story of a girl (micro fiction folk horror)

By Aaron MorrisonPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Esther leads Michael, who, after two weeks, finally convinces her to help him escape the cell in her parent’s basement.

Slipping past the village watch, they enter the forest. Movement is slow since Esther forgot to steal shoes for Michael, though she retrieved the thing Michael calls a “phone.”

Esther turns right, and gets far ahead of Michael, who cries in pain and betrayal as a cudgel strikes his head.

“For Agoroth! For the village!” shouts the bird masked woman who slits Michael’s throat, then turns to Esther.

“What does Agoroth desire above all?”

Esther forces out her answer.

“Despair.”

Wow! This feels like an episode of game of thrones or something. Jam packed with drama and character arcs, hints of more to come. Amazing! But I feel so bad for Esther…
